The rise of the Democratic Socialists. I warned you the last couple of years when I said, I think we're getting ready for a socialist president in 2028
And if you go in thinking there is not a single chance that that could happen, you are naive. Watch what's happening right now to the Democratic Party. Go ahead, guys.

Democratic Socialists, how are they viewed inside the Democratic Party?

**SPEAKER_4** (0:55)
Yeah, you know, you mentioned New York, you mentioned Vermont. Obviously, there's the DC mayor. We've seen it in Pennsylvania as well. The Democratic Socialists seem to be doing considerably better than they used to be. And they have the chance to knock off, in fact, Democratic incumbents in Congress. And part of the reason for that, why we're seeing these Democratic Socialists having such good chances or downright, outright winning nominations, is take a look here, net favorability among Dems. Democratic Socialists of America, look at that. A plus 17 point net favorability rating among Democrats. That is actually better.
That is better than how Congressional Democrats are viewed by Democrats at just plus four points. So no wonder that Democratic Socialists have such a good chance, because simply put, they are a better brand at this point than Democrats in Congress.

Among Democrats, it's interesting to see who they like more. All right, and you've used this number before. I always find this fascinating. When you compare socialism to capitalism, how are they doing right now?

**SPEAKER_4** (1:52)
Yeah, how are they doing right now among Democrats? You see, this Democratic Socialist of America more positive than Congressional Democrats. And I'll tell you, take a look at the trend line, the favorable rating among Democrats on socialism. Look at this, in 2010, they were about equal. 50% had a favorable view of socialism. 51% said the same about capitalism. But capitalism has absolutely fallen through the floor. Look at this, it's now just 42% of Democrats who have a favorable view of capitalism. Socialism on the other hand, up like a rocket. Look at this, two in three Democrats have a favorable view of socialism. So socialism is on the rise among Democrats. Capitalism is on the decline among Democrats. And again, this is part of the longer-term trend in which we are seeing democratic socialists doing considerably better among Democrats, electing a mayor right here in New York City, for example.

There you go. So Tom, what does this mean to you?

So here's what's going on.
Democratic socialists right now, you need to think of them as MAGA of the Democrats. Not on the right, but they're this group that's out there. The core Republicans, remember, you go 2016 Remember how upset the core Republicans were, Vinny, Adam, you remember this too, at MAGA. Oh, it's just a bunch of fringe guys, a bunch of this. And guess what? Trump rode that wave, baby, to 2016
What you're having now is Bernie and AOC mostly are the democratic socialists. You do not have as much support for Omar on a national basis as you do just in her districts. And she pisses us off with where she puts herself out. So that's point one. You're seeing this is the fringe. The other point is, when you see socialism versus capitalism, ignore the words. When you dive deeper down into this, Pat, you're hearing this.
I don't trust Congress, you on the outside, or portraying as an outsider like AOC.
If you can fix it and make my life better, I trust you.
And when she happens to be a democratic socialist, I don't care what she is, I don't trust Congress. Congress is terrible. I don't want to see these guys anymore. I trust them. Same thing happened with MAGA and the Tea Party. It's not that I don't like the Republicans, but the ones in Congress, I don't trust them. The Tea Party, the MAGA, they're on the outside. They can help me. That's what they're looking for. That's when you see these gaps here. So you have to be careful with the labels, Pat. I don't think it's capitalism, socialism, as much as the economy sucks and who's going to help me. Oh, you? Okay. And then the lower middle class and the lower middle class says, you know what, if you can give me some free stuff and you can help me out, I'm with you. It doesn't make logical sense from the moderates.
