Chris Benson (0:41)

Hey, welcome to another episode of the Practical AI podcast. I am Chris Benson, your co-host. Daniel is out today and he's really going to miss this one because we have an old friend of the podcast who has been on multiple times.

Demetrios Brinkmann, who is, okay, let's get the title right here, Demetrios, Head of Development Experience and a member of the non-technical staff at the Agentic AI Foundation. He's also, by the way, as most folks who have seen shows with us before, he's the founder of the MLOps community. Oh my God, that's the longest title, Demetrios, I think I've ever had to do on the show.

Demetrios Brinkmann (1:23)

I made it hard on you.

Chris Benson (1:24)

You made it real. I'll tell you what, I just read a paragraph. So great to have you back.

I've lost count of how many times we've done this together. You are, like for those who are joining us that are not familiar with you, in addition to all these hats that you wear, amazing thought leader in the world of AI.

And I know we're gonna have some really good stuff to talk about today. And I know that the viewers and the listeners will enjoy this as much as I do. And before we start, I have to say, so after the last time we talked, you had sent me a t-shirt that's a super cool t-shirt. It's one of my favorite Bum Around the House t-shirts. I'm wearing it right now. For those who are watching us on YouTube, it says, I hallucinate more than ChatGPT. And so my wife is completely sick of seeing me wear it. It's faded red now. It doesn't, I'm sorry, man, it looked good when you gave it to me, but it doesn't look good anymore because it's all faded out. But that's because it's a fun t-shirt to wear.

Demetrios Brinkmann (2:25)

I'm going to send you the next one.

Chris Benson (2:28)

Well, anytime I wear it out, I have to tell people, everyone asks me about the hallucination thing. Then I have to also say, and just because there are people at my real job, I'm not hallucinating. Just so you know, there's no drug test required or anything, no hallucinating here whatsoever. So with all the fun start, this is probably not the show most viewers were expecting that we'd start with, but we always have fun.

How are you doing? Things have really changed since the last time we talked for you. Tell us where you're at, what you're doing, what's going on with it at this point.

Demetrios Brinkmann (3:02)

Well, first of all, let me just say that the last time we chatted, we came up with some bangers that people are still hitting me up for, like Broccoli AI. I don't know if you remember going to the whole Gardner Hype Cycle. We created our own Gardner Hype Cycle. One of the things that was on there was Broccoli AI. It was almost peak hype.

For those who didn't hear that episode, it's that AI that you probably don't like because it tastes bad, but you need it because it's good for your organization.

Chris Benson (3:36)

That's right.

That was something, and Daniel's not here today, but he was also all about that, that there are things in our world, the hype tends to take over, but there are things in our AI world that you just got to do to do this stuff well, and some of it's not the coolest and most fun thing. And we were talking about that, and that is Broccoli AI was born. So there you go.

Demetrios Brinkmann (4:00)

The next thing I want to say is I'm going to get you the new shirt that says member of the non-technical staff. So you can join me in my ranks.

Chris Benson (4:09)

Excellent. I got to get my ego stroked right there, you know. That's good. I appreciate that.

Demetrios Brinkmann (4:14)

I just find it hilarious that everyone at Anthropic or OpenAI, they're members of the technical staff. And so I had to go against the grain and be a member of the non-technical staff. That's where that came from.
