Welcome back to the ETNWA studio out here at Optus Stadium on this Monday morning. It is sunny outside at the moment, but we're expecting some showers through the course of the day. James Iwanaru has joined us on the Barra and Ode Open Line, wants to talk Tasmania and Ken Hinckley. James, welcome.

Yeah, morning, mate. Hope you had a good weekend. I think it's a great move by Tassie to appoint a bloke like Ken Hinckley because they're going to get a lot of kids in the draft. And I think he's the best bloke out of the candidates that were probably mentioned, you know, Buckley, Longmure and Ozzie Ken, to mentor these kids. And as a Freo fan, I wouldn't be surprised if they went and got Alex Pearce, just with the culture that he could bring to Tassie. I know he's put off contract talks and stuff until the end of the year because he wants to focus on Freo, but I think it would be a good move for Tassie, Freo and Pearce. I think he's a riff-a-bloak.
Ozzie is a terrific captain and by all reports of the culture he brings at Freo will be beneficial at Tassie as well. Just want to know your thoughts on the links with Pearce.

It's an interesting thought.
Obviously right now it would feel like a big loss if Alex Pearce left. Whether it would still feel like a big loss in 18 months time is a different question, I think. But Alex Pearce is a great leader. He's one of the best captains in the AFL. And I agree with you where Ken Hinkley is concerned. His record in being able to bring kids through, I think is going to be a key of this appointment and a key to the success of this. Yeah, Alex Pearce is a watch this space. When you have young teams, you want durable players. And I guess the one question Mark you would have over Alex with all these grandstanding leadership qualities and his big moment qualities is whether he would be durable or whether he would spend a lot more time than you want your captain spending sitting in the grandstand. But certainly good thoughts and a thoughtful question, James. Thanks for joining us on the show.

So what did you make of the Eagles against Brisbane? They went down by four goals, they jumped the lines early and were gradually worn down.

**Eliza Reilly** (3:06)
Yeah, exactly that. It was obviously a really spirited performance, another honourable loss, which was starting to say a bit about the Eagles in recent weeks. But I think, you know, taking a step back and looking at this fortnight for them to take on Brisbane Lions and then Fremantle Dockers on Friday night under lights in the Western Derby, it was always going to be a really significant fortnight for them to really test themselves against two of the most informed teams in the competition. And the signs are certainly there that their brand of football is starting to come to fruition and will continue to test these top teams in the AFL. I mean, it's a big what if if Harley Reid was not taken down by an ankle injury first on the field and then on the bench to to aggravate it further. If he could have played, you know, that big period and it helped extend West Coast lead and made it harder for the Brisbane Lions to get back. But I think fundamentally, and it's been a bit of a theme throughout the season so far, is just skill errors and skill execution was probably the difference between the two teams and West Coast just, you know, put themselves in really good positions and then managed to stuff it up with a poor kick here or a poor handball there and that's a sign of a young team and a growing team. And once they clean that area of their game up, I think they're going to be super competitive going forward.
