All right. Yes, sir, yes, sir. 607, McMonigle here with you on the last stop of The Carton Show. We'll catch her for a few minutes until we take it to Yankee Baseball. I did just see, so if you're heading to the game, it sounds like, yeah, the Yankees just tweeted, please be advised, we do not intend to start tonight's game on time. Information will be provided as it's received, okay? Right now in the Bronx, you are looking at rain for the next two hours on my little quick handy dandy phone weather app. It looks like it should clear out of there.
It says, rain expected to start in 20 minutes and continue until sometime after 8 p.m. So let's see, let's give it a look, real quick, what do you say? Hold on, I'm doing this for you, so you can wait.
Yeah, it doesn't look like it's going to be much past 8 o'clock. So there could be, I think they fully expect to play baseball, but there might be a delay at the start in what is now, for me, a brand new season. This is the line of demarcation. Yes, they already had the trade deadline, and we've already seen those two players play in games. And you've seen Lombard play in two games as well. But they were in the stretch of a long play-everyday streak. The bullpen was completely taxed. They're throwing their three best starters in this series against Atlanta. They're throwing the three aces that we all, as Yankee fans, have our hopes and dreams hanging in the balance on the arms of Fried, Cole, and Schlitler. Rodin threw a bullpen.
Sean Marash, who is headed to the game today, just texted me, says, it looks like the movie Twister on the Deegan right now. Bad. All right. So if you're driving and the weather is terrible, be careful, obviously. But I do think, just looking at it, and I should have known we had some bad weather, we got the direct TV out in here. So whatever it is, I don't think it's going to last very long. It might be pretty bad, but I don't anticipate it lasting too long. But the Yankee game will not start on time. But I don't see why there would be any reason why they don't have baseball tonight. And again, it's just now the Boston Red Sox have caught them. I know it's a half game. They've caught them. And last night's victory for Boston was impressive, along with 38 other impressive victories over the last. It's just they're on an insane run. They're playing every aspect of the game practically perfectly. They're pitching, they're hitting, they're fielding, they're running the bases. They are doing everything right over the last 40 or so games. And they have thrusted themselves from 15 behind. And I was in Boston when it started in that four game sweep. I was in Boston and I was listening to the Red Sox fans. Right? I was in a suite. The Red Sox fans were in the suite with us. The kids were, instead of saying cheese, they were saying Yankee sucks for pictures. Everyone was saying Yankee sucks. And then the people were really nice and great. And they were like, look, you know, I'm so, I hope that was okay. I hope the kids didn't mind. We know the Yankees don't suck. We suck. I'm sure tomorrow we'll be right back to being what we've been all year. We're terrible. Like the Red Sox fans were down. They were having fun with that series, but they had every expectation that the Boston Red Sox were going to have a miserable season. That was this was their World Series. And instead, they've gone on this run. But how long can it last? And now that they've caught them, this is it. A 47 game push. 48 for Boston, 47 game push to the finish line. And I think as if you asked me, and here's the question. Here's the question that Yankee fans need to ask themselves. Are they right now? They've been pitching incredibly well and they have hit terribly. I mean, they're scoring two runs a game, as Craig keeps saying. The offense is trash. Here's the question. Which one is more likely to continue? Is it more likely that Fried, Cole, Schlittler, Bednar, the back end of this pen, is it more likely that they continue to pitch really well? Or is it more likely they'll just never score runs again? That's the question. We're going to find out. They have two new bats. I do think you're looking at Bellinger and Stanton coming back soon. You're going to have a full month of those guys at the bare minimum of September. As we wait on Judge, they did get two legitimate bats to help this team. Lombard playing excellent defensive shortstop is something the team didn't have. I know we probably go too nuts on how bad Volpe was defensively. He probably wasn't as bad this year. Certainly as last year or as much as we proclaimed he was terrible at short, and Cabby was serviceable to the point where we were okay with him playing shortstop every day. But this level of defensive shortstop is different. He's brought a little bit of an element to the team. They do have the two added bats now settled in, and it's go time. The New York Yankees need to understand that it starts tonight.
