Claude Wants to Be Your Coworker In Slack

I am Jyunmi, and with me today is Brian, and this is The Daily AI Show. We are going to cover all sorts of AI news, and if you see this face, we're going to be talking about some AI and science. So before we dive too deep into the AI news, what have you been up to this week, Brian?

Well, I won't go too deep into it because I spent some time on it yesterday on the show, but I was saying really just two nights ago, is it Tuesday, Wednesday? Monday night. I finally sat down and after a long time of struggling with keeping up with a budget that I've been doing now for years.
It's called a line item budget. I've talked about it on the show before. But anyway, the short story to the longer story on yesterday's show, if anybody wants to dig into that, is that I finally sat down with Claude Code. It's like when you know you have a solution, but you keep delaying sitting down and you're like, oh, if I had just spent, you know, whatever.
You could apply it to anything. Oh, if I just spent 30 minutes fully cleaning up the kitchen, I wouldn't be spending 10 minutes a day perpetually, right? You could do your garage. You could do it to your car. It doesn't matter, right? It's like the idea that sometimes the best next move is to slow down and restructure so that you have future. And so that's what actually happened to me. I used Claude Code and sat down. And what I was able to do, I'm sorry, Andy was saying there was no video from you at first. I saw that. Yeah. Okay. But he says it's fixed. Is what I was able to do is just basically sit down with Claude Code was within about three hours, I would say on casually, not even like, you know, hard, hard going after it. I was able to produce something that's actually beyond it just sort of fixing, you know, plugging, you know, holes and dams with band-aids. It was like, it was fundamentally helping me re-fix and restructure like long running years long problems of a system that had kind of been built on eggshells a little bit from my wife and I of, you know, tracking this finance or tracking that finance. And it never had a PRD, right? It never had a structure. It was something that was just built up naturally because we needed it for the, for the family. And so this enabled me to like, stop and go, what are the goals here? Is it even, is even what we have today? If I could just snap a finger and do the thing with AI today, is that even still the goal? So it was a great conversation with my wife. I talked about it yesterday and Anne and I and everybody else was talking about it. And so yeah, that's really, that's sort of like the big win from this week. I'm also still continuing to work a lot on internal projects. And one of the new stories today, I think I will, I'll say is probably going to be something I'm actually working on on the latter half of this week because I think it has huge impacts. So we can get to that. But yeah, man, we don't see you but once a week now. So like what's going on on your end of the world?

Well, over the weekend, I finally got rid of those Blackberry bushes. Finally got the last one. But I'm sure in two weeks, I'll have to go back and cut it down again. But on the AI side of things, I've been designing out, I guess, architecting a method of, well, let's see if I should provide some context. We've in the past talked about how do people work for companies or a client, right?
How do they work for a company and keep what they're working on, their, not necessarily IP, but their intelligence, right? For building agents and this building up of these tools and different packages, and do the client work, right? And work for the company. And what is the company's knowledge and what is the employee's knowledge, or what is the freelancer's knowledge? And how do you set that up when things like agents are so interactive and grab from information from different polls and things like that? So, I'm throwing some brain cells, some biological compute at building a system using the existing harnesses and things like that to try and keep what needs to be siloed, siloed, but have it interconnected enough to where you're gaining the experience of doing the work. So, we'll see.
