Hawaii for a week. It was good. I went to Waikiki. Good times.

I've been there in sand, not grass, but sand.

Yeah, exactly. I've been there once. It's beautiful. I would love to go back some day. I actually got engaged there and then I went skydiving over the North Shore.
But I will tell you all the, there's always a dumb Brian story. It's not firefighting. It has nothing to do with that. What it was is my wife convinced me, we were obviously not engaged. We were dating for a while. She convinced me to run an 8K in Hawaii the same morning that I proposed. I said, yeah, sure. I have no business running, by the way. I'm not a runner. She is. I'll tell you, I was running so slow, she carried a conversation with me and at one point went and left and used the bathroom and had no problem catching back up to. That was the pace I was running at compared to my wife. I'm not a runner. I don't enjoy it. Anyway, good as it is, Pearl Harbor, sun's rising, we end under the Aloha Bowl 50-yard line. Cool race nonetheless. But when I tell you that the level of soreness that it set in by that afternoon, not like a two-day soreness, what had me walking like I had a load in my pants.
We were saving, we were young, we were saving money at the time and we would walk 30 minutes from our club area. It was called a like, you know, sort of hostile like thing over to Waikiki Beach, which is where I was planning to do the thing. Okay. I propose I can't get down on one knee. I didn't even try. I was like, I won't get off the sand. I won't get off the sand. So I just kind of, I had a book, whatever, it doesn't matter. That's a different story. My point to all of this is I was so sore, so sore. And we already had plans. She had bought me Christmas present to go skydiving the next day. And if you can imagine somebody trying to skydive where you can barely move your legs and you're in free fall, it becomes a funny situation of agony and thrill and falling and agony and thrill and falling.
It was a whole thing. So it was a lot of fun. I don't regret any of it except the race and saying yes to that. And over the 20 years we've been married, the burning joke is anytime I'm telling other public people about this race, I increase the length of the race a little bit to the pain of absurdity. So I'll say Amanda had me doing this 15K race or 20K. I'll just be like, oh my god, it was not that long of a race. I'm like, all right, so says the runner, you know.

Hey, listen, we're a talk show. So sometimes I like sharing silly stories from the past and stuff. I do have another quick update. I've been working on the app. I talked about it on Monday's show, and then I mentioned the Jyunmi essay, but I've been working on this budget app going wonderfully well.
