Your heart can tell you a lot about your health. Apple Watch Series 12 measures your heart rate every five seconds with the most accurate heart rate sensing and wearable. So your vitals app now with heart rate variability can tell you when something is off. And your readiness score can let you know when to rest and when to push. Hear the story in every heartbeat with Apple Watch Series 12
The features described are for wellness purposes only and not for medical use. iPhone 11 are later required based on Apple conducted study of heart rate accuracy August 2026 Visit apple.com/applewatchseries12.

Anthropic launched Claude Opus 5.5. The core engineering mandate for this model is that it is fundamentally less likely to take hard to reverse actions or operate outside the strict boundaries it's given. You have Dario Amadei, the CEO, standing in public explicitly decrying the rapid release of frontier models, and then his engineering teams immediately shift this new product into the market.
SPEAKER_5 (1:47)
The contradiction there is just, well, it's obvious. You have a company founder asking the entire tech industry to slow down the pace of development, and at the exact same moment, his own company is actively pushing new code into production environments.
You get this very strange tension between what a leadership team is saying on a public stage and what their engineers are actually deploying to cloud servers.
SPEAKER_4 (2:11)
Yeah. The messaging around this specific release really focuses heavily on that boundary following behavior. Anthropic is framing Opus 5.5 as a direct technical answer to those incidents where autonomous agents were caught executing malicious scripts or hacking proprietary platforms. They are making a very public point that this system is structurally designed to stay in its lane, to not break things it can't fix.
SPEAKER_5 (2:35)
Right. Which introduces the central question we really need to look at. Does this release actually represent a purposeful deceleration in artificial intelligence development or is it just a fundamental shift in how these companies are choosing to compete for enterprise contracts?
SPEAKER_4 (2:50)
Well, the cost structure provides the most obvious answer to how that competition is shifting. Opus 5.5 is 40% cheaper to run than its predecessor, Opus 5
SPEAKER_3 (2:59)
Wow, 40%.
SPEAKER_4 (3:01)
Yeah, they priced it at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. And on top of that price cut, it generates output more than 30% faster.
SPEAKER_5 (3:11)
You see a direct parallel there with what OpenAI did with the debut of their budget-friendly GPT-6 Sol and Luna models.
There is a clear industry trend solidifying here. The major labs are just aggressively cutting prices rather than prioritizing the development of the most resource-heavy, computationally expensive system possible.
SPEAKER_4 (3:31)
When you look at the raw compute savings, Anthropic stated that Opus 5.5 requires less compute to serve than Opus 5
They took that reduced overhead and just passed the savings into the pricing model for typical workloads. They even increased the usage limits on their Pro, Max and Team plans by 20% without raising the subscription price.
SPEAKER_5 (3:50)
I mean, cheaper isn't inherently better. You have to question if this relentless focus on cost-cutting and token efficiency is actively limiting the capability ceiling.
SPEAKER_4 (4:00)
Yeah, that's the big worry.
SPEAKER_5 (4:03)
If the primary engineering goal shifts entirely to shrinking the compute footprint, you naturally trade off the raw reasoning power that comes from a larger, unconstrained neural architecture. We might be settling for average intelligence just because it runs efficiently on standard hardware.
SPEAKER_4 (4:19)
That completely alters the entire battlefield.
The competition is no longer about which model is objectively the smartest in a vacuum, or which one can, I don't know, solve the hardest theoretical physics problem. The competition is strictly about which model offers the most practical unit economics for enterprise adoption. Companies just need to run massive, multi-step operations without bankrupting their cloud budgets.
