We direct your attention to the west end of the stadium.

One of the most impressive sights that you'll ever see in any sporting event, ladies and gentlemen, the Parade of Nations, led traditionally by the team from Greece.
Here they come. Here comes the Greek team, given the honor because the Games first began in Greece many centuries ago. And of course, the modern Games were revived in Athens 36 years ago in 1896

They're getting a tremendous ovation, this Greek team is. The Greeks will be followed by Australia and then will come Belgium.
And now, the moment is at hand, the one that we've all been waiting for. Here they come from through the portal to our left, 357 men and 43 women of the United States team. Of the many thousands who made the attempt to qualify, these 400 are the athletes who will represent the United States.

The American team passing by brings to mind an interesting story. You remember Jim Thorpe, the double Olympic gold medal winner in 1912, where his medal was taken away. Well, he was refused admission to the press box earlier today. But when Vice President Curtis heard about it, the Vice President got him two seats for each day of the two weeks of the competition here.

As the host nation, the American team is the last nation to march around the stadium. Among them, 85 men and women representing the track and field team will begin their competition tomorrow. They are here at the Olympic stadium. Ladies and gentlemen, we direct your attention to the Tribune of Honor.

The athletes from 39 nations are now awaiting along with us, the climax of these ceremonies, which will be reached in just a few seconds when Vice President Charles Curtis will officially open the 10th Olympic Games of Los Angeles. Here is Vice President Curtis.
