Welcome back to the Daily Crypto Roundup. Yesterday, the United States Senate had a final 635-page crypto bill. Today, Republicans rejected the Democrats' counteroffer. Prediction markets slashed the odds of passage, and Bitcoin fell toward $75,600.
A quarter-dollar Bitcoin deposit also created 46 billion fake tokens. A trusted wallet lost $7.8 million through a helper contract, and Solana made transactions more than three times larger without increasing transactions per second. At the time of recording, Bitcoin is around $75,820, down approximately 3.3% over 24 hours after trading between about $75,595 and $79,474.
Ethereum is near $2,406 and down roughly 3.7%.
XRP is close to $1.38 after losing approximately 1.4%, while BNB is around $714.50 and down 0.8%.
Solana is near $98.60. Hyperliquid is close to $76.90.
Cardano is around $0.20 and Chainlink is near $11.18.
Cardano is the weakest move in this group, down approximately 3.8%, but the broader message is a market-wide retreat. Tell us whether lawmakers should take an imperfect crypto framework now or accept another delay, and follow Crypto News Today for what the vote changes rather than what traders hope it changes. The 20 XRP is supplied by Crypto News Today, not Kraken. This is not financial advice. Crypto trading involves risk of loss. The lead story is a material change since yesterday's final Clarity Act draft. Senate Republicans have rejected a Democratic counterproposal only hours before the scheduled procedural vote. Senator Cynthia Lummis said the Democratic offer looked identical to its opening position before the August recess. Her complaint was that Republicans had moved substantially while the other side had not. The Republican draft added stricter ethics provisions for senior officials with crypto interests, gave state attorneys general and enforcement role, and created a circuit breaker for payment stable coins if they triggered broad bank deposit flight. Democrats and banking groups still argue that protections are insufficient, particularly around official conflicts and stable coin rewards. The immediate test remains cloture. It requires 60 votes, while Republicans hold 53 Senate seats. The vote was scheduled for after this recording. There is no verified result yet, and no law has changed. Prediction markets reacted sharply. Polymarket's chance of the bill becoming law during 2026 fell to about 14% from roughly 30% a day earlier. Cal she's probability of enactment before October 1st, 2027, dropped to approximately 36% from 53% Monday. Those are tradable estimates, not a substitute for the roll call. Bitcoin fell at the same time, and more than 90 members of the CoinDesk 100 were lower. Legislative uncertainty is one plausible contributor, but oil above $100, a 10-year treasury yield near 5%, and tomorrow's expected Federal Reserve decision also apply pressure.
One stalled bill did not necessarily cause the entire decline. What changed today is the rejected counteroffer, collapsing passage odds and Bitcoin's loss of Monday's rally. What did not change is the authority of the Securities and Exchange Commission or Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Failed cloture would block this bill, not agency rulemaking or Wall Street's existing projects.
Can Luca Kojman, an investment strategist at Signum Bank, said another delay would be negative, but probably not a new regime shock. Passage could reduce legal uncertainty and unlock institutional activity. Coinbase chief executive Brian Armstrong countered that agencies can produce clarity through rulemaking even if the bill fails. Exchanges, custodians and developers gain if a national framework replaces case-by-case uncertainty. Opponents gain leverage if failure forces stronger ethics provisions. Holders lose if political disappointment and tighter monetary policy push Bitcoin through support.
Would you accept the current compromise to get a rulebook? Or risk waiting until after the November midterms for a stronger bill? The interpretation changes if cloture unexpectedly reaches 60 For Bitcoin, watch today's roughly $75,600 low, then $76,900 and $78,000.
The larger market test is the Federal Reserve decision on September 16th. The second story explains how a 25-cent deposit created more than 46 billion unbacked Bitcoin tokens. Symbiosis Finance published its postmortem today.
The attacker made 12 bogus deposits in roughly four minutes across BNB chain, Ethereum and Rootstock, producing 46.1 billion fake SYBTC, more than 2,000 times Bitcoin's maximum supply. Two bugs work together. The bridge examined the wrong part of a Bitcoin transaction when deciding who sent the deposit, treating the attacker like an approved address. The attacker then entered a fee below zero. Subtracting that negative number added an enormous amount to the minted balance. The preliminary economic loss is 9.97 Bitcoin, worth approximately $756,000 today.
Fake claims could remove only real liquidity available in pools containing wrapped Bitcoin assets. No one created 46 billion native Bitcoin, and Bitcoin's 21 million limit did not fail. What changed today is the verified mechanism and preliminary loss. What did not change is the bridge's status. It remains offline while the integration is rewritten and independently audited. Symbiosis says users will be compensated. Users benefit if compensation is complete, but liquidity providers and the treasury still absorb a loss. Recovery fails if the rewrite is unaudited, reimbursement is incomplete, or another path uses the same assumptions. Watch the final loss report, compensation, audit, and restart conditions. The third story shows that a secure core wallet cannot protect unsafe code it authorized. Early today, about 2,900 KelpDAO re-staked Ether tokens worth $7.8 million moved from Anos' safe. Investigators traced the weakness to a separate multicall helper contract, not safe itself. The helper's authorization check approved a caller who named the helper contract as the target.
