What up ladies, this is Lisa Bilyeu and you are listening to Women of Impact. Now in a world where you've got the predators and dangerous men eyeing you as you cross the street, or stalking your DMs or just watching you from the sidelines, knowing how to actually stay safe feels like an impossible mission. But guess what? Ex CIA spy, Andrew Bustamante and one of my favorite guests of all time is back with his brand new book, Outsmart Everyone. Yet the guy who spent his life reading people, breaking codes and finding the cracks in anyone's armor is all about sharing his CIA level tactics to win trust, make connections and basically get anyone on your side. But you know me, I took his CIA secrets of getting people to trust you and angled it hard to our side ladies. Because let's be real, if there's a playbook for gaining trust, you better believe manipulative predatory people are going to be reading every single chapter, every single line on how to manipulate you. So today we're laying it all out, the real tactics, the psychological hurts, and the terrifying real life cases that show exactly to the T how predators use these CIA moves to not just get close, but to gain your trust and take you for all you've got. Now ladies, we've got to protect ourselves. So here's what we're going to talk about today that you must hear.
The signals that you're leaking without you even knowing it, that tell a predator, she's the one. And of course, what you can do right now today to make sure that you are not an easy target. Then we go into exactly how manipulators work the system. Climbing through your inner circles, weaponizing your empathy, using your routines and tech against you. And a warning, it doesn't just happen to naïve women, it can happen to anyone.
You and me, which is why it's so important to make sure that we see the tactics for what they are.
And then we go into the four tactical steps to see through the fricking bullshit. Spotting real threats versus harmless, just weirdness out in the world. Making sure that you can read micro body language and flip in the script before they can actually make you doubt yourself. Because that's the fear. If they get into your psyche, it's all over. But that's why you listen to the show and that's why you're here, to make sure it never happens. So if you know in your gut that safety isn't just about self-defense classes or being careful, but about understanding the games people play on your psychology, then stay right here because it's time to pull back the curtain and get battle ready. Let's dive in right now, right here on Women of Impact.
Researchers secretly filmed people walking down a New York sidewalk, then played the footage to convicted psychopaths and violent criminals in prison and asked one simple question, who would you pick? Within seven seconds, they all chose the same targets. So is a CIA spy trained to actually read a mark? What are we women leaking without even realizing it, that quietly tells a predator, she's your target?
Andrew Bustamante (3:33)
Every human being communicates in two ways simultaneously, verbally and non-verbally. Now, what ends up happening is that so much of our mental effort goes into what we verbally communicate. We worry about our words and we worry about our vocabulary, we worry about whether we sound chipper, whether we sound depressed, whether we're loud enough or too soft. We completely ignore how much we're communicating in our non-verbal signals. How fast you're walking, are your shoulders up or your shoulders hunched? Are you looking up? Are you looking down? Are you squinting because you're trying to look through a pair of glasses?
To a trained predator, trained by CIA or trained through the school of hard knocks like a criminal, that non-verbal communication is the easiest thing to spot from a distance.
So you can look at a street of people and you can easily find the three or four people who are the easiest targets because they are communicating. Come get me.
Lisa Bilyeu (4:29)
Wow, it's that easy. It's that easy. We don't even realize we're doing it.
