Hey, guys, welcome back to another episode of Best Practices. I just finished up an interview with my electrician, Chris Gill. I call him my electrician because we feel like buddies and he's like my guy. If ever there's a problem at the Rust Belt Electrically, he comes and he solves it. He helped, he actually did the electrical on my entire house when I built it in 2020 And ever since we've been working together, we've developed a relationship and we always talk shop, always talk business when he's here doing work. And sometimes it gets to be 15, 20 minute conversation.
So naturally, he was a candidate for the guest on the show and he didn't disappoint. What's up, man? I'm so glad that we're finally doing this.

**Christopher Gill** (1:13)
Oh, yeah.

**Chris Best** (1:14)
I'm a little bit. You took time out of your workday.

**Christopher Gill** (1:16)
Yeah. Yeah. We had a workday today.

**Chris Best** (1:18)
What time did you start?

**Christopher Gill** (1:20)
I started five every morning. I kind of get. Yeah, I kind of get my day going about five o'clock.

**Chris Best** (1:25)
Hold on. Do you wake up or you go to what you get going at?

**Christopher Gill** (1:29)
No, I'm usually hitting the road. So I'm up at four.

**Chris Best** (1:34)
Oh, man, I'm lazy. Yeah, I feel very lazy right now.

**Christopher Gill** (1:38)
I'm up at four and I'm usually kind of like hitting the road at five so I can stop by stores. I can if I got to set some up or put together a packet for the guys. So I'm usually, you know, usually that's my normal routine. Sometimes I get a little, you know, I'll get a little, I have a long night and I'll kind of like fudge a little bit. Maybe I only start at five, but typically that four o'clock is when I'm, I'm trying to hit the bell.

**Chris Best** (2:06)
So for those that don't know who I'm talking to, because we don't do video yet, Chris is my electrician and he's been working for us, doing jobs for us at the Rust Belt for what? Five years now? About five, it's gotta be, maybe longer.

**Christopher Gill** (2:21)
Longer, because it was pre-COVID? Was it pre-COVID?

**Chris Best** (2:24)
Yeah, it was.

**Christopher Gill** (2:25)
Like, I want to say, late 18, I mean, early 19

**Chris Best** (2:29)
So it could be as much as seven.

**Christopher Gill** (2:31)
Yep, because the first project was the original plant house.

**Chris Best** (2:36)
Yep, yep.

**Christopher Gill** (2:37)
That was the original. We did some of the lighting, we did the lighting, we did some outlets, and that first plant house. And then, and then it kind of spawned from there, you know.

**Chris Best** (2:48)
Man, time is weird. Especially COVID warped everything too, as far as time perception.

**Christopher Gill** (2:54)
It did, it did. I mean, I feel like what COVID did was it kind of showed us, it kind of showed us that at times, no matter what we want, we could be slowed down.

**Chris Best** (3:05)
Yeah, true. Forced.

**Christopher Gill** (3:07)
Yeah, you're forced, it's a force. I mean, and even in some of the resistance of what the United States was kind of doing, it, you know, oh, we're going to move this way or pivot that way. It's still at the end of the day. It was like, nah, we can't do nothing.

**Chris Best** (3:24)
It definitely, it slowed things down for sure.

**Christopher Gill** (3:28)
Yeah.

**Chris Best** (3:28)
Whether it was like through the government or just through people's decisions on how they move through the world. So and then we deepened our relationship. And you, I was, our dream was to build the house in. We didn't know where we were going to build, but we ended up building in Ferndale.
And you guys gave us a quote on it. And I don't know if you do a lot of new residential construction.

We do. We do now.

**Chris Best** (3:57)
OK.

**Christopher Gill** (3:57)
Initially, when we started off. So so me and Calvin came together and that's my partner.
