Why would you say that?

I'll tell you why. Why would you get so defensive about that?

Well, because that is the last thing that I would ever think, that it's nice being me.

**Adam Carolla** (2:41)
Well, that's good. That means you still have your edge. The second you think it's great being you, then you stop being funny.

**Chris Elliott** (2:47)
I mean, I guess if your edge is suicidal, then yeah. Yeah, it's an edge.

**Adam Carolla** (2:52)
It's the ultimate edge. I probably spent too much time in the company of Jimmy Kimmel, but Jimmy Kimmel, and it's nice. It's better probably, I'm trying to think in the American psyche, or at least the psyche of American comics, to be that guy who is you're not Johnny Carson, and you're not Gallagher, you're this guy that's sort of hang, you go in between, you take on different shapes, but you're just associated with funny. Like Jimmy was a huge Letterman fan, and thus a huge Chris Elliot fan.
And I didn't even know what you did other than you were funny. But that's the ultimate.

But that's still my act. I don't really know what I do either. And my hardcore fans, of which Jimmy is one, I don't think they could define it either.

**Adam Carolla** (3:50)
Well, that's kind of nice because, you know, it's like, well, this guy does stand up, or this guy does a sitcom, or this guy does a late night show. And then you have something you can wrap your mind around it. You're the Kaiser So-Safe comedy. No one exactly knows what you do. You just appear, you make a fart joke, and you leave.

**Chris Elliott** (4:08)
Right, right. Well, yeah, and the older I get, the more fart jokes I've been making too.

**Adam Carolla** (4:13)
It's not intentionally.

**Chris Elliott** (4:14)
It's a lot, yeah.

It's easier. No, I know. It's so weird. You just, you go like, I'm getting up off the sofa, and the crrr, and then you're-

See, that is my biggest fear in life, is just that, you know, I'm in an elevator and I can't, I just have no control. I mean, that's going to happen, right?
