Hello, everyone, and welcome back to Center Stage Chronicles. And we're on episode 29 now, and we're going to August of 1991

Yeah, great month for myself and Rob Naylor, and of course, it's our birthday month, and in the world of WCW and pop culture as well, as we get into it. But first, I am your host, Kris Zellner, joined as always by my birthday brother, as I said, and we're just fresh off of our birthdays. And yeah, he's fresh off of attending a hell of a AEW Dynamite show in Allen, Texas. And yeah, it's a great show. So yes, we are joined as always by my dear friend, Rob Naylor. Rob, welcome back.

Rob Naylor (1:20)

Hello.

We are a year older. Yes. And wiser, and it's going to be okay. Allen, Texas was nice. I, it's like a little suburb, I suppose, of Dallas. I never knew, I knew like Fort Worth, and every time I passed a sign that said Denton, Texas, you know where my mind went. So yeah, it was just, it was cool being up there yonder.

Kris Zellner (1:43)

Well, you know what? I kind of surprised that, you know, where was Dusty Build as being from in 1988?

Allen, Texas.

Rob Naylor (1:51)

Are you serious?

Kris Zellner (1:52)

Dead serious. Yes.

They made a deal out of it. Now hailing from Allen, Texas.

Rob Naylor (2:00)

Do you think that's where Crockett's office was?

Kris Zellner (2:04)

It was in the Metroplex. Maybe Dusty was just, you know, where he was living at the time.

Rob Naylor (2:10)

Yeah, for sure. I think that's exactly what it was because Allen's a really nice area.

Kris Zellner (2:15)

Oh, yeah.

Their high school football stadium is basically like a college football stadium. I mean, there's so much money that's in high school football and in athletics and that general area. And that stadium alone was like, I remember, I don't know if it was over $100 million to build the stadium or some shit, but it was ridiculous money for a high school football stadium.

Rob Naylor (2:36)

Yes. And it was a very nice little area. But the coolest thing is, okay, guys, blurt the name out when you think of it first.

When I say the town, Waxahatchee, who's the first wrestler?

Kris Zellner (2:50)

Killer Tim Brooks.

Rob Naylor (2:51)

Ah, you got him. Yeah, Killer Tim Brooks. As I passed Waxahatchee's sign, I had a little angel of Killer Brooks on my shoulder.

Kris Zellner (3:02)

There's so many Texas towns that wrestlers are from. I'm sure if you just rode around the state, you just wrestled up in your mind.

Rob Naylor (3:09)

I rarely do. I really just, my car's a piece of shit currently, so I don't really traverse too much outside the sand. Okay.

Kris Zellner (3:17)

We could make this a whole show in itself. All right, if I said what wrestler was built from Bull Verde, Texas, who would that be?

Rob Naylor (3:23)

Oh, you know what? Brody?

Kris Zellner (3:27)

No. Charles, you got a guess?

Charles (3:30)

Oh, I didn't think I could talk until I was introduced. I thought that was a freaking cave. No, I don't know.

Kris Zellner (3:36)

Scott Casey.

Rob Naylor (3:38)

Oh, okay.

Kris Zellner (3:39)

Bull Verde, Texas. I mean, we could go into all of this, but yeah, and you got, let's see, Hook and Shoot, Texas is always one.

Rob Naylor (3:48)

And Oil Trough, Texas doesn't really exist.

Kris Zellner (3:50)

Oil Trough does not exist. No.

Mission.

Rob Naylor (3:54)

It's out there with Tokula, Mexico.

Kris Zellner (3:57)

Oh, not Hook and Shoot, Cut and Shoot, excuse me, Cut and Shoot, Texas. Hook and Shoot was a promotion that did work wrestling. But yeah, Texas is one of the all-time wrestling states.

Rob Naylor (4:08)

Was Hook and Shoot Jeff Osborne?

Kris Zellner (4:10)

Yes, it was.

Rob Naylor (4:12)

Well, this is the most ridiculous conversation. The way it's circling is amazing. Yeah, okay. Go ahead. Sorry.

You can introduce Charles. Sorry about that.

Kris Zellner (4:21)

Well, I mean, like I said, we could do a whole show just on stuff like this. But anyway, yes, not only is Mr. Naylor with us, but our dear friend, the man in charge of the wrestling playlist newsletter, the hardest working man on the wrestling Internet, putting out tremendous content weekly, monthly, yearly, all of it daily. Yes, we are joined by our dear friend, Charles. Charles, welcome back.

Charles (4:46)

Thanks, Chris. Glad to be here.

Kris Zellner (4:48)

Yes.

We got quite the show. Now, where we left off last show was the saga Ric Flair basically coming to an end. That's it dominated the entire month of July.
