First game in the NFL season has come and gone. The Seattle Seahawks with a 13-10 victory over the New England Patriots. They push on the minus three. New England covers if you took three and a hook. We go under the total of 44 1⁄2, but that does not tell the story or the implications of what went down at Lumen Field to begin the season because reigning Super Bowl champion quarterback, Sam Darnold, last just one drive in this game before leaving with a hip injury. Adam Schefter of ESPN with the latest update on the situation following the game.

Sources, Sam Darnold has been at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, undergoing a CT scan on his hip. The initial test was encouraging but inconclusive. Darnold is now scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday. Mike McDonald said the team got great news back on Sam Darnold.

Doctors do not believe his quarterback's hip is fractured. An MRI on Thursday is expected to tell the team more. I mean, that is huge. I imagine a fractured hip would be a season ender, potentially for a guy who takes hits for a living.

An absolutely massive for Seattle if they only have to wade these waters with Drew Lock for a couple of games because Drew Lock came in. After a chance to get acclimated and a chance for new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury to sit down with him and come up with a second half game plan, they dominated the second half at least offensively, outscoring the Patriots 13 to 3

Now we should note before we look back at some of the numbers and what cast and what did not in the opener of the season, that the New England Patriots were driving with a chance to tie it up under two minutes to go in field goal range and Drake May, with under a minute to go at this point, through one of the worst interceptions you're ever going to see anyone do. And this is the problem for Drake May. I think he's very good against bad teams, but he does not elevate his performance against the elite and Seattle's elite. And I'll give all the credit to the Seahawks defense as well, because despite being down their quarterback, they did not care. They pinned their ears back. They were pressuring May on every drop back. They were forcing him to maneuver and move around in the pocket and make uncomfortable throws, forcing many mistakes despite getting into field goal range to try and tie this thing up. But May has to be smarter because it's not just about physical ability when you're playing quarterback. You have to manage the game. We use that term so incorrectly sometimes as if it's a knock on a player saying, well, he's just a game manager. No, that's just one element of the role of being a quarterback, especially on a good team. New England is a good team. I don't think they're a great team. I think that last year with the easy schedule and the opportunity with three legends just having horrible seasons, Burrow getting injured, having issues a season ago with Cincinnati. Lamar was not healthy for most of that season, and Buffalo, the reality is, Sean McDermott was a liability for a long time, getting in the way of Josh Allen getting to the promised land. We'll find out how big of an issue he was and if Allen was a bigger issue this year. But either way, that's how New England got to the Super Bowl a year ago. Drake may force the throw when it wasn't there. And you have to know in that spot to be able to settle for a field goal.

That's the goal. That's the objective. Get to overtime and figure it out after that to try and if he was throwing it away, he didn't get enough on it. And that's just stupid in a whole other degree. But in the end, Seattle gets the win 13 to 10

On the night, Drew Locke in his stead finishes 16 to 22 for 187 and a touchdown. Quarterback counterpart Drake May goes over on his completions, over on his attempts by one. The interception got him over by one. He was 23 to 33 178 goes under his yardage of 230 and a half. He throws three interceptions, so well over the half an interception thrown. And has one touchdown in the game. He was sacked three times, all of it in the fourth quarter, all of it on that final drive that would have set up the game tying field goal, ending in the interception. In terms of rushing, leading rusher in the game was the rookie for Seattle, Judarian Price, 10 carries for 51 yards. Neither of those were good enough to get over his attempts or over his rushing yards. Ramandre Stevenson led the charge for the Pats, 18 for 51 on the ground for him.
