This is Cashing Out with your host, Dustin Swedelson on VSiN, the SportsBetting Network.
Dustin Swedelson (0:09)
Yeah, buddy, back at it on Cashing Out. I'm Dustin Swedelson coming to you as always from the Circus Sportsbook in downtown Las Vegas. We've got a lot to get to on the program today.
Fade, follow what we saw on week one of the NFL later on this hour. Also, 30 minutes from now, the Hall of Famer Warren Moon checks in. His thoughts on his Seahawks with now what looks like a tougher task than expected at Arizona, laying three and a half with Drew Locke, potentially at quarterback. But it's time to talk college football, and I'm really fired up for our next guest because I've been very aware of this guy on social media for a long time, and I think he's as sharp as they come. Joe Lisi, host of Go For 2 with Joe Lisi, at Go For The 2 on X, and he makes his debut on Cashing Out. It's great to see you, brother. I'm so fired up to chat with you. I know you've got some really sharp plays as well, and the thing I love about you, you're not afraid to go against the common thought. You're contrarian better at times because you know ball, you dig deep, and you look for those diamonds in the rough. So we'll get to your plays in a minute, but I want to throw a hot take your way, and you tell me if I'm out of bounds here.
Watching Ohio State and Texas at the end of that game, all I kept thinking was, I think I love Indiana and Georgia more after watching those two teams play. Do you think that's a fair assessment?
Joseph Lisi (1:28)
I think it's great, and thanks for having me, Dustin. Big fan of yours as well. I think when you see that game play out, a tale of two halves, Ohio State dominates the first half, second half or fourth quarter was all arch manning. The biggest takeaway for me was how Texas was able to wear down Ohio State and run the football right down their throat in route to the one point victory. I think when you think about big picture and teams that they potentially might have to go up against, I'm with you. I think it's Indiana and Georgia. I picked Georgia in the pre-season at plus 850 here in New Jersey. I think the physicality is back for Kirby Smart. They could run the football last year. They averaged 183 yards on the ground, only gave up 81 yards to opposing offenses. They were battle tested in road environments, six and one on the road and won those games by an average margin of victory of 10.8 points per game.
When you see Indiana, all they do is reload. Potentially Kirk Signetti could be the modern day Nick Saban and have his team back in the college football playoff. I don't know if they're an undefeated team, but at 10 and two, 11 and one, they're going to be there. Both teams run the football, play solid defense and win the turnover battle. That's a recipe to be in the college football playoff and win it all.
Dustin Swedelson (2:45)
100%.
Joe Lisi is our guest, college football handicapper, host of Go For Two with Joe Lisi at Go For The 2 on X.
And one thing that I've gotten concerned with myself this year is when I identify a dog that I like and then I hear everyone else make the case for the dog. For example, I know you were on Virginia in week zero. I had NC State and as that week went on, you were the only person I heard make the case for Virginia. I knew the Wolf Pack were dead on arrival. And this week, I think you're fading a team that's going to be a trendy dog. Mississippi State's going to South Carolina. We're looking at this one from 3.5 up to 4 You can still get a 3.5 at some shops. Total is 58.5. But I'm picking up what you're putting down here. I do think South Carolina is the right side because they're going to get healthier for this matchup. Why do you like the Gamecocks?
Joseph Lisi (3:34)
Well, a couple of factors. You mentioned health.
Dylan Stewart in peak. The offensive tackle potentially come back for this ball game. But again, you look at Mississippi State, are they punching above their weight? They get the road victory over Minnesota, dominate by double digits. Camario Taylor's playing lights out. He's a Heisman Trophy Dark Horse at this point in the season. They were one and a half point road favorite. That was a quality win and held PJ Fleck and Drake Lindsay in that offense well under 50 yards rushing. But it's back to back road games. They haven't won in Columbia, Dustin, since 1998 These teams haven't played each and every year, but the last five meetings have been dominated by South Carolina. They've won by an average margin of victory of 14 points per game. But you look at this offense now with Kendall Brials, they are averaging 341 rushing yards per game, have the seventh best third down offense, converting 63 percent of their opportunities. Lenora Sellers has the experience in the quarterback advantage over Camario Taylor, and the home field advantage is in Williams-Brice. I like this defense. I think South Carolina is more physical, and I think they win this ball game by seven or more. Yeah.
