We are tailgating here on Cashing Out, as it is our NFL Week 1 episode. That's right, College Football Week 2, an exciting day on Saturday here. We'll recap some of the action that we saw earlier, including Texas' come-from-behind win against Ohio State. But let's get into NFL Week 1 on Sunday. We talked with our sports betting professor, Aaron Moore, about his favorite prop bets. We won over the top selected teams in Circa Millions and Circa Survivor. Can't forget about Circa Grandisimo as well, the $100,000 entry Survivor pool, where a little bit different than Circa Survivor, because less contestants, maybe a better chance to win. It might not go all 20 weeks. The Chargers, the most selected entry, 28 entries, 24 on the Jacksonville Jaguars, 10 on the Lions, 9 on the Steelers, 4 on the Eagles, 1 on the Seahawks, already advanced, and 1 on the Cincinnati Bengals. I'm actually on the bucks in that game, plus the 3.5. Let's talk about some of the games that we are paying attention to here on Week 1 Sunday. And one of the more profitable fades that we have been talking about for some time now is the quarterbacks that do not play in the preseason. I brought it up before. I do it every single year. I know that it's gotten kind of more popular now in recent weeks as people, you know, obviously recently because everyone talked about the Wednesday game and the Thursday game and how profitable it has been fading these quarterbacks that don't play in the preseason. Well, here are the latest numbers and this goes back to the start of the 2021 season when the NFL changed to a three week preseason and a 17 game regular season. And I know that there's some numbers floating around the internet of people saying, well, if you just fade these quarterbacks in the first half over the last two years, right? How you're, what 16 and three against the spread. Great numbers. Again, my numbers go back to 2021 when the NFL changed. It's a larger sample size. And this is what we're looking at.
Going into this year, right? Going into this year from 2021 to 2025 included, we had 49 quarterbacks that did not play in the preseason. Now we add a couple that we've seen already this season, Sam Darnold and Drake May on Wednesday, although we can kind of throw Darnold out because he only played a series before getting hurt, and Matthew Stafford on Thursday. So now, here are the numbers if we just look at where we are coming into this year, and then we'll talk about the results so far for this season. Coming into this year, 2021 through 2025, quarterbacks that did not play in the preseason, on average, those 49 quarterbacks, saw their teams fail to cover the spread by 2.08 points. They went under their team totals by an average of 2.32 points.
The games went under by an average of 2.67 points, and the first half ATS, they failed to cover by 1.78 points. If you faded the first half for the Matthew Stafford and the Rams, you cashed.
And if there really was no fade between Drake, May and C, you know, because obviously both quarterbacks, you can't fade both quarterbacks, but if you played the unders, you cashed. And that's where I look for the EDGE, is the unders. So let's take a look at the quarterbacks that we are paying attention to going into Sunday.
We'll start with, we'll go in order of the game. We'll go, we'll go in the schedule order right here, okay? So we'll start with the one o'clock games and we'll move on. We have the Bucs against the Bengals, Baker Mayfield and Joe Burrow, excuse me, they're fine. Okay, both played in the preseason. We're not worried about that game. Lions and Saints, both, both. Jared Goff and Tyler Schuck did not play in the preseason. This would qualify as an underplay for me. Okay. And if you recall, last year Jared Goff did not play in the preseason either for the Detroit Lions. And the Lions struggled in week number one. They lost to Green Bay 27 to 13
