It's Cashing Out, I'm Dustin Swedelson. You're listening to VSiN, the eSports betting network. Still to come on the program, we hit college football hard, bottom of the sour, Colby Dant. Coming up next after this segment, we do our usual weekly NFL college football under doggie style. The dogs that I think are barking, heading into the weekend, and to help us analyze all of that and more, we're going out to the Progressive Guest Line right now. He is Arthur Dicesare, odds maker in Las Vegas, over at wagertalk.com on X at Art Dice 21, and he joins us now on the Progressive Guest Line. Art, buddy, football's back, it feels good. Want to look back, then we'll look forward. Talk to me about Wednesday, man. Seattle loses Darnold after the first drive of the game. Not a problem with that defense, and Drake May struggling against good competition. Seattle gets the win 13-3. Now, however you bet it, whichever side you bet, you should have been able to win. Either pushing with Seattle at minus three, getting New England plus three and a half, and we go way under that total as well. What did you think of the Wednesday night opener in the Super Bowl rematch?
Arthur DiCesare (1:15)
Yeah, in that scenario, Dustin, always a disaster for bookmakers, because even when it sits at three, you'll see a lot of people, if they didn't get the best number, they'll buy to three and a half, they'll buy under to two and a half. So bookmakers get killed in a scenario like that.
I thought it was the same old same. I thought Mike Modeno showed he's the best coach in the league. I think Drew Locke is going to show too, if Darnold's out for an extended period of time with that defense, and when they're at home and those receivers and all that, that Seattle can still go win games. A lot of question marks with New England, and now AJ Brown hurt. So I mean, Seattle still looks like the cream of the crop of the league.
Dustin Swedelson (1:52)
Yeah, that defense is going to travel, man, who knows how long Darnold's out, but feels like they know how to play their style of fight, too, with the way the defense just limits every other team that they're facing. Now, how about Thursday? The travel was the big story, right, with both teams going about it different ways. San Francisco goes out there for about a week, gets acclimated to the time zone. The Rams roll up about 24 hours before game time, and it kind of showed. It showed that one team was ready and prepared. Niners get the win 27-7 on the money line, plus three-and-a-half gets home, and another game goes under the total of 47-and-a-half.
Arthur DiCesare (2:29)
Yeah, I was really impressed by San Francisco. I know a lot of people I respect who are picking San Francisco to win that division, picking them maybe to go to the Super Bowl or even win the Super Bowl. Obviously, you want to be a little contrarian because when the Rams are sitting at four or five, the one to win the Super Bowl and everyone else is double digits, it's kind of like we need to look to go against the Rams here to find any value. I think the Rams will be fine, but listen, I think that said more about what the San Francisco 49ers might be this year because they look awesome.
Dustin Swedelson (2:57)
They did look awesome. They looked ready. They also looked healthy for the first time in a while. I think that's something that we have to remember as far as the Niners are concerned heading into the year. You and I, I believe, are like-minded. I think you are very high on the Cincinnati Bengals as I am coming into the season. Is that correct?
Arthur DiCesare (3:15)
I definitely like the Bengals. I think the Bengals have a real shot to win that division. I'm not necessarily sold on the Ravens. So yeah, I got a little stuck in Cincinnati here.
Dustin Swedelson (3:25)
What do you think of this number? Week one against Tampa Bay. No more Mike Evans for them. Baker does get the contract. Vita Vea eventually got his new deal as well. Cincinnati's a three and a half point home favorite with that new look defense. Total dropped 52 and a half down to 50 and a hook. What do you make of these lines today?
Arthur DiCesare (3:44)
Yeah, I mean, you look at that. It's been pretty steady with the three and a half. I've said this and you never want to go crazy in week one. This is a must win for Cincinnati.
