Coming at you from the Circus Sports Booking downtown Las Vegas, I'm Dustin Swedelson. This is Cashing Out on VSiN, the Sports Betting Network. Week one of College Football is here. Our guy, Coach Big, Zak Bigelow had a monster week one on the show, and he's returning once again in his usual spot. You can catch Coach Bigelow here every single week, and check him out on X at Coach Big CFB.
Before we get started with things, and we look back and then look ahead, I was texting you today, we need to highlight what you're doing at your website, because I bookmarked it because I think it's vital for everyone. If you want to look at how teams stack up with each other, and it's hard to find this information everywhere.
**SPEAKER_3** (0:48)
You've made it easy.
**Dustin Swedelson** (0:50)
What I have bookmarked is Coach Bigs, and I just went out of it for somebody, coachbigs.netlify.app.
I think I just have your app on my desktop, that's all it is. But you can take any two teams in the country based on your information and see how they match up with each other. So it gives you the conference, it gives you what they have on their roster, how you evaluate them, the offense index, the defense index, all of these details, all of the changes. Can you explain what this tool is and how people can use it and find it?
**Zak Bigelow** (1:21)
Yeah, absolutely. So there's so much turnover in college football anymore, both between the coaching staff and the transfer portal, right?
It's become harder than ever to use a model to start the beginning of the season. So the reason I love weeks through 4 is that's where I feel like if I put in the work, I can really find the edges. And for years, how I've been doing that is really hunting through what does a roster look like? How do I value the talent of every single player in the 2D for each team and going through? And that's where I've been able to find my diamonds in the rough. Well, I've systemized that and I built it into a model now. And so every single player in the 2D for every single FBS team is modeled, it's taking into consideration. What's their floor and ceiling based off of what was their recruiting rank originally? Then it's looking at their on-field production that they've done and then giving a value to that. Then it's looking at the staff around them as a player and the team that's around them, so that potentially what they can develop into.
What is giving you is a rank for every player to 99, so you can evaluate what does the roster of this team look like? And then what is the staff around them rank? So you can really get an idea of what a team is and potentially find some edges. An example of that, one of our favorite plays that we talked about last week was Memphis over UNLV. I went into that game really excited and grabbed Memphis 6 1⁄2 because I had Memphis as the higher rated roster by far, especially in the trenches where we know football games were won and then everybody went out and saw that and everybody's talking about Memphis's D line and how they got after Jackson Arnold. That was clear as day if you use the depth and value tool. So it's on my ex, it's completely free, or you can use the app that I built that allows you to compare two teams side by side. But utilizing that tool will help you find the edges. And we're going to talk more about some of those edges tonight, I think.
**Dustin Swedelson** (3:04)
Yeah. So I actually reached out to you before we get to some of your plays here. I reached out to you because I said you got to help me understand this Liberty James Madison line. You said, well, my model has this very similar to that Memphis game. So I punched it in and I saw you have a big edge going in advantage of Liberty. Who's the dog in this matchup based on the roster index, the offense, everything there. You can see it right on the page. Ten edges to four versus JMU with Billy Napier taking over. I was already pretty much going to bet it, but that just put the hammer over the top for me. What do you think of this matchup here? Because to me, I thought this was going to be more of a field goal, three and a half type contest with James Madison and their turnover, and Jamie Chadwell trying to get their running game back going.
