Follow him on X at Real Gauge and he joins us now on the program.
How we feeling strong four and two weekend, sitting in third place and you've won this contest before. You know it is very early. There's still plenty of time for you to make up ground.
Chris Macero (1:20)
Hey, thanks for having me, Dustin. Love coming on the show with you. Five and two, you have to make five and two.
Dustin Swedelson (1:25)
Sorry, five and two.
Chris Macero (1:26)
Yeah, no big deal. Five and two. So it was funny. On Saturday afternoon, I went three and in my college. I went and checked on the standings and I went down. Because the contest is just on fire. Everyone is, I mean, last year at this time there were a few people that were just really dragging and they got knocked out early. But this year it seems like everyone's going five, one and one or six and one, four, two and one. There haven't been many under 500 records. I know Steve Fezzix talked about it. It's been incredible how many people are just really crushing it this year.
Excited.
What got me through two years ago got me tied. I got the tiebreaker into third with the best bet record. I try to really work on that. Five and one, the best bet. Hopefully, we can keep that going. Hopefully, we have some winners. I can maybe give out tonight that will be using in the contest. But it's been a great start. It's exciting. You don't want to embarrass yourself. You don't want to get cut early and you want to keep it rolling as best you can. Luckily, we've been able to do that so far.
Dustin Swedelson (2:28)
You like a lot in college football this week. We'll get to the plays for this week. But first, we have to acknowledge you are wearing a BYU hat. You and I texted in the summer because we were some potico. Bear Bachmeier for Heisman. I got 66 to one. I think you got better than that with the number, but he did what we needed him to do.
Monster game against Notre Dame. I don't know if I envision that, where he's catching, throwing and running for touchdowns. But that certainly feels like a Heisman moment. He needs to keep it up. How do we feel about our bet on Bear now that he's down to around 21 to one to win the Heisman Trophy?
Chris Macero (3:01)
Well, the reason I bet a lot of these long shot bets is to come back with other opportunities during the year where you might not have the winner. And you're right, I do have a little bit better than you.
I got off 80 to one at Westgate, Circa, I got 72 to one. They moved them both on me right after I bet it. So they will only give me a certain amount, but whatever, it's fine. We're in a good position. But right now, you have to figure Jeremiah Smith is going to have a little bit of struggles with backup quarterbacks thrown into him. Freshman quarterback, a kid from Mission VAO didn't look too comfortable on Saturday. So I'm just tossing him. If he beats me, beats me. I took a little bit of Trinidad-Chambers a few weeks ago at 12-1. And this week, I came back in, I found a plus 350 I never had a ticket on Mensa, which is dumb. But I figured if he was going to win the Heisman, it was going to be really good for all my Miami future. So I did come in on Mensa this week. I played at plus 350 So those are my three positions. I don't have a lot of money because of the big number on Beer-Bachmeier.
