We just watched Thursday Night Football with Denver Broncos winning in overtime over the Seahawks 17-14. Game stays under the total, and Denver covers as a two and a half point home dog. We'll have plenty of NFL coming up here. We'll talk some college football with an incredible slate of top 25 games coming up this weekend. But we have a special guest joining us right now on the Progressive Guest Line. Three time Super Bowl Champion with the New England Patriots, member of the Pat's All Dynasty team, and will be a panel member at a really cool event going on here at Circa next week. Rebelcon 2026, he is Lonie Paxton, and he joins us here on Cashing Out on VSiN. Lonie, thanks so much for giving us a couple minutes. And I know we're all excited about the event going on here at Circa next week. So just tell the audience what exactly is Rebelcon, and what people can expect if they come here to Circa next week.
Lonie Paxton (1:29)
Yeah, well, there's going to be, there's a lot of opportunity in the room. There's guys who, and men and women who've really been successful on and off the field, inside and outside of business. And for myself and Doug Flutie, we bring a different perspective of being able to transition from pro sports into business and really learn how to invest, learn how to be good with your money, and really build a network of people around you. A lot of times that are smarter than you and can help you along the way.
Scott Seidenberg (2:04)
Yeah, it's a really good event with a lot of incredible speakers. You mentioned you'll be on the panel with Doug Flutie talking about just how you guys have transitioned from your football careers, your post-playing careers into your business careers, everything that you guys do on the business side of things. Derek Stevens, the CEO here at Circa, will speak as well. Kind of looking at things from the houses side of the table. So it's going to be a real interesting event. You guys can learn more about it by checking out marketrebellion.com/circa. Again, marketrebellion.com/circa.
What led you to go into some of your business ventures after your playing career, Lonie? Like how many years after your playing career? Did you get involved while you were still playing, thinking about your post-playing career and saying, oh, I want to get into investing here, or I want to get into venture capitalism here? Like how did you transition in your post-playing career?
Lonie Paxton (3:00)
Yeah. I mean, I was a long snapper, so I had a lot of time on my hands before and after practice. So I grew up in Southern California. I was really a fan of the brands. And so I started just learning how lifestyle marketing went and attending events, the power of the brand, the power of the sticker.
And I got really close with a company called Red Bull, and Red Bull led me to my post-career job at GoPro. So I was leading global sports entertainment for GoPro about three or four months after I got cut with the Broncos. And I cut my teeth in content, marketing, sales, lifestyle events, production, influencer, athlete sponsorships and contracts. And in 2020, they clipped a lot of people because of COVID. And that kind of led me into just entrepreneurship and building the network that I had throughout my playing career, learning how to build a brand, help startups find talent, help startups find capital, and really attend a lot of these events like RebelCon, where you get to engulf yourself and people who've done that for a living and really bring an athlete mindset to that world. And what I learned in football, teamwork and accountability, and if you're going to fail, fail fast and be able to pivot at half time, that whole thing just led me to learn how to be an entrepreneur and my network through winning Super Bowls and being in Boston, one of the greatest sports cities of all time, and attending events like this. Just, I kind of put those puzzle pieces together and have had my hands in a handful of things since retiring.
