Yeah, buddy, it's Cashing Out. I'm Dustin Swetelson. You're locked into VSiN, the Sports Betting Network. Appreciate you making us a party tonight. However, you may be tuning in. SiriusXM Channel 189, YouTube TV, the VSiN Watch app and radio affiliates across the United States of God Bless America. Week seven, college football, it's underway. We had Conference USA on Tuesday. We've got more on Wednesday.
Thursday, we've got a slew of games. Friday as well, into Saturday. To help us break it all down, let's go out to the Progressive Guest Line. Welcome in one of our favorites. He is Zach Bigelow, college football handicapper. Go follow him on X right now if you're not doing it. At Coach Big CFB, he's got free tools, matchup tools, ways to analyze these teams. It's all available to you on his Twitter page, at Coach Big CFB and he joins us on the Progressive Guest Line. Zach, I appreciate the time as always, man. And I wanna begin where I left off my last segment. I think you heard it. Talking about Ohio State this week taking on Indiana, because look, I was getting nervous, not that I have a play yet in this game, but when everyone's like, yeah, it's Ohio State. I'm gonna lay with Ohio State. And you know what? There's plenty of times where that's right. But whenever I'm involved on that side of things, the other side ends up coming in. So I'm just curious as someone who's been a coach at the Division 1 level at several different stops and seeing this one with Ohio State on the road against the defending national champs, laying three and a half, total of 51 and a half. Are we underestimating Signetti or the Hoosiers after two scares against Northwestern and Nebraska?
Just not that great this year.
Zak Bigelow (1:35)
No, I think the same thing. And I hate being on that side when everybody's on it, especially when my model's telling me that it actually does lean Indiana a little bit. I have it as a one point favorite for Indiana at home. And so when you're picking up three and a half, it's really, really tempting to play that. Haven't done it yet. One of the things holding me back is just Signetti's personality a little bit. Like he was built this program like no nonsense, total accountability. And there's been these little slip ups in press conferences where I hear him like wanting to make excuses for Hoover and why he's playing differently and wanting to push back on fans' expectations and them being upset about him not covering the spread. So maybe you could say last week, look ahead a little bit for Ohio State and that was Nebraska Super Bowl. So they gave us a scare and they still pulled it up late. But right now I'm on the sidelines. I just can't await this game.
I do lead the Indiana side and I do love Signetti until he proves me wrong. He's still the champ in my book until you knock down the champ. They're the number one team in the country in my eyes.
Dustin Swedelson (2:30)
So yeah, it's one of those elements to where I'm just not a Ryan Day guy. And I think Signetti just given time to prepare, he'll show up with a better game plan.
What about the total? Because I kind of like the under, but there's so much offensive talent on the field, that could get blown up pretty quickly on just a couple of back to back plays between these two teams, right?
Zak Bigelow (2:52)
Yeah, no, 100%.
And I actually have been incorporating a model that likes projecting how many plays are going to be doing through some Monte Carlo simulations. I'm not asking it to give me a total, but I'm just asking it based off of how these teams run, how they passed, expected completion percentage against these levels of defenses, how many plays are projected to have, and actually have this game projected at a slower pace for both teams by how they match up. So I've actually been leaning the under that way as well, but yeah, same thing. Like you put three guys on Jeremiah Smith and he can cover the over by himself. So again, lean that way, but those explosive plays have scared me off but haven't played it quite yet.
Dustin Swedelson (3:29)
Zach Bigelow is with us, college football handicapper at Coach Big CFB. You can find him on X. The other big game this weekend, and for Notre Dame, the schedule comes down to two games, right? It's BYU this week, it's Miami in a couple of weeks. The Irish laying 10, 10 and a half on the road, total down from 48 to 46 and a half. Do you have any opinion either way with this game being played in Provo?
