This is Cashing Out with your host, Dustin Swedelson on VSiN, the SportsBetting Network.

Cashing Out rolls on from the Circus Sportsbook in downtown Las Vegas. I'm Dustin Swedelson. We are transitioning from week zero to week one in college football. The college ranks, it has center stage, at least for this next week before the NFL returns. To help us get set for week one, find some numbers that maybe the market is miscalculating. We're going out to the Progressive Guest Line. Welcoming Gary Segars right now at Gary WCE. The WCE stands for Winning Cures Everything. And he joins us now on the Progressive Guest Line. Gary, buddy, I appreciate you doing this tonight. And you're based in Memphis. So I'm very curious your take on what went down over the weekend as the Memphis Tigers come to Las Vegas, they knock off UNLV 27-21.
What's it like in town right now Charles Huff is a national darling. How much belief do you have in this Memphis team this season?
**Gary Segars** (1:03)
We knew the roster was going to be outstanding. We knew they had good offensive lineman, good defensive lineman. We didn't know we were going to get that because he's kept everything really close to the vest in Memphis. We're all we're happy. We're happy with the Tigers right now because we went from a coach that did less with more to a coach that really shows some fight, really has some dog in him. And it's it's a welcome change. Welcome change in the bluff city.
**Dustin Swedelson** (1:26)
I love that. I love that for you guys. Before we move on to week one, just want to get your thoughts on anything. I jumped out week zero. You had Virginia with the dropping of NC State. You and I were texting about it. I was on NC State and I was like, you know what?
**John Somerall** (1:38)
Should have just be under.
**Dustin Swedelson** (1:39)
You were on NC State too? Okay. That was a rough one. And then I had the USC team total. That was a rough one. We got a couple right though at the under in North Dakota State. Your biggest takeaway, maybe it's what Bill Belichick and company did in Dublin, Ireland with the win over TCU.
What stands out to you from week zero?
**Gary Segars** (1:55)
Week zero is the, especially with having eight games this year, as opposed to four last year. It's one of those where everybody's going to overreact. And maybe you can profit off of that overreaction. North Carolina did not look like a good football team. That just looked like a bad TCU team. And we have seen Ireland do this to teams before, right? Kansas State had the same thing happen last year. Four of the last five years, the underdog has won outright in Ireland. It doesn't necessarily mean anything. Northwestern beat Nebraska a few years ago and didn't win a single game when they got back stateside. So I'm going to maybe take it with a grain of salt. We'll see what North Carolina looks like. That defensive line looks better for him. I mean, that number 90 can absolutely play and nobody had even thought about him.
So I'm not going to take away too much from these USC.
That's another one of those where looked really good when they were up 35 to 3 And then it looked like they just completely took their foot off the gas and maybe gave a little gas to San Jose State. So I don't know what to make of San Jose State now going to Eastern Michigan this week, where they're a three and a half point dog. But they got to travel. And it's after they played USC and they maybe put a little more into that fourth quarter than they should have.
This is a weird time of year, especially with the way that things are changing in college football because we don't know what these rosters look like. It's very different. Like Virginia, we knew, or at least had an idea of what that offensive line was going to look like. We didn't know what that defense was going to be like. And they look outstanding. So Virginia is the thing that I would take away the most from week one because that offensive line and a running quarterback in Bo Pribula, like that travels. So they look like a contender in the ACC, and I did not expect that.
**Dustin Swedelson** (3:34)
Yeah, I agree with everything you said. Not much takeaway from North Carolina. In fact, I kind of like going under the four and a half at plus 255, you can get under five and a half and you could still get plus money on that. The point you brought up about San Jose State is fascinating because they go and take on Eastern Michigan this week. Eastern Michigan, we have no idea how good they are. I can't tell if it's good that they covered a big number against Sac State or it's bad that they didn't cover by more against Sacramento State. That number is three, three, three and a half right now for San Jose State at Eastern Michigan. So I thought it was a great point by you. Let's stay with the Mac School with one of your plays this week. You have Michigan and Toledo you're looking at.
