College football, it's officially week one. Week zero's in the books. What did we learn? What can we take with us? We will start handicapping week one using that information right now with our next guest. Joel Schreck joins us. College football handicapper at Draftmaster. Flex on X, you can find him. He had a monster week one. I was watching his plays with FCS and FBS over the weekend.
I got to figure out what he thinks for week one. Not everyone has played. We will look at some of the teams that played week zero, how they move on to the next week. Appreciate you doing this, buddy. I'm fired up to chat.

It was a really fun week zero. Obviously, as you mentioned, I was hot. I won some bets. I'm excited to run back at it again here in week one.

**Dustin Swedelson** (1:21)
Yeah, the question becomes how much of week zero, success or failures for betters, for the teams, for the coaches, was because they play a week earlier than everyone else. I guess we're going to find out here, but I know you and I were very amped up for the debut of Memphis quarterback Marcus Stokes, the West Florida transfer. I'm a division two guy.
I covered Valdosta State for years. That's where I went to school. And West Florida and Valdosta State wound up in the same conference in the Gulf South after I'd already left covering that team and West Florida started their program. So I knew a little bit about Stokes. I did not realize he was that prolific. What did you think of the way that he looked? Memphis looked Charles Huff with the victory. As they come to Vegas, they win 27-21 over UNLV over the weekend. They were catching four and a half at close Joel. What'd you take away from that one?

**Joel Schreck** (2:09)
I did. I had them taken with the four points and obviously one I was happy about that. I think my biggest takeaway, my concern going into the game was would they be able to get a couple of stops and they proved that they had a defense too. Because I knew their offense would be able to manufacture some points. This kid Stokes scored 40 touchdowns last year. He can do it with his legs. He has the same offensive coordinator that now Wisconsin quarterback, Colton Joseph had last year at Old Dominion. The guy knows how to design a run scheme with his quarterbacks. It's a really good fit there.
The coach Huff was a lot of fun. If you saw him, we don't have any fun. There's no ice game.

I think this is a Memphis team that you got to take seriously with a serious playmaker, a quarterback, and a proven defense at this point that they can get some stops against what was a really good offense in UNLV.

Well, let's talk about them to win the American because that's something I am firing on. I'm going to talk about it a little bit later on in the week. I've been thinking about it for a while, and I'm actually shocked the market didn't move that much over at DraftKings after this win. I know they're not playing a conference game, but we saw a lot of the questions, as you mentioned, get answered. I also bet 13-1 during the game to make the playoff. You can still get 10-1 there. Beating UNLV, could they win in two weeks against Boise State?
That would help the case. Do you think the upside is there to win an American conference where a lot of the other programs are in transition?

**Joel Schreck** (3:31)
Yeah, I think this is one of my favorite future bets to make right now. I'm seeing a draft because you can get it at 7-1.
I mean, for a team, it's a wide open conference. It's not like you have an incumbent that's got a dominant team that you're going to be really worried about. It's a conference that's pretty open. And when you look at those conferences, you want to find a number closer to 8, 7, 8, 9, to 1 That's what you get with Memphis who proved that they look really good on both sides of the ball in week
