Always on Twitter at ScottsonAir and at VSiN Live as week zero of the college football season wrapping up tonight with our lone FBS game in progress here in Las Vegas, UNLV and Memphis scoreless in the second quarter as both teams rolling out new quarterbacks here. Jackson Arnold, the starting quarterback for UNLV and for Memphis with the whole program in transition. Charles Huff coming in from Southern Miss, taking over for Ryan Silverfield, who left as the head coach. Marcus Stokes, the former D2 finalist for the Harlan Hill Trophy, the D2 version of the Heisman is the starting quarterback for Memphis here. So both teams in a little bit of transition with their offense and finding their or attempting to find their footing here at Allegiant Stadium, as we are scoreless with about 10 minutes to go here in the first half. Full disclosure, I did play a live over halfway through the first quarter, and that number is completely gone because the live total right now up on DraftKings, 35 and a half. This game closed with a total of 55 and a half, and it is now at 35 and a half, UNLV minus three and a half as they have the football now driving with under 10 minutes to go in the first half. Coming up, when this game goes to half, we will have a live update from Allegiant Stadium. Jeff Parles from ESPN Las Vegas will join us here on the program, talk about what he has seen in the first half, and what we can expect to see with some adjustments made at half time going into the second half here between UNLV and Memphis, where the winner of this game in a pretty good position moving forward throughout their schedule with their sights set on the college football playoff, right? Both Memphis and UNLV are two teams that are attempting to be that G6 representative in the college football playoff. UNLV is actually the favorite to win the Mountain West Conference. For Memphis, they still got a little bit of ways to go as far as in their conference, and they're sitting here at, I think, 10 to 1 to make the college football playoff, whereas UNLV a little bit shorter odds because of them being the favorite to win the Mountain West. Memphis not the favorite to win the American, but the American pretty wide open. Plus, Memphis has a game at Boise State in two weeks where I think they're going to get absolutely blown out because, look at this schedule. After this game here tonight in Las Vegas, Memphis travels home to take on Arkansas State in a rivalry game. They call that the Paint Bucket Game down there. And for Charles Huff, first year head coach coming in, what do you want to do? You want to make sure that you win your rivalry games. You want to make sure that you win your rivalry games in your first year. And that's what they have here coming up between Memphis and Arkansas State next week. And then after traveling the furthest west you've gone in years to come out here to Vegas, and then traveling back home to play your rival, to then have to travel back out west to take on Boise State on the blue turf, a game for Boise State, which by the way, will be their second game of the season after Boise State plays Oregon in their season opener next week. So we could be talking about a Boise State team, favorites to win the Pac-12, who has their eyes set on being the G6 representative in the College World Playoff. In fact, they're like the favorite to be the G6 representative in the College World Playoff. Let's take a look at that right now. College Football Playoffs, Boise State is, let's see.
Boise State plus 450, they are the favorite amongst the G6 schools. The next G6 school would be Navy plus 750
Yeah, UNLV plus 900
Memphis is a ways down 10 to 1, like I said. So for Boise State losing that first game against Oregon, you know they can't afford another loss. That loss is baked in to Boise State's projections this year. Boise State is a favorite to make the College Football Playoff as the G6 representative, even though they are massive underdogs in week one to Oregon. They are expected to lose to Oregon, and then they are expected to run through the remainder of their schedule. And so I got a Boise team coming off of a loss here in week one that welcomes in a Memphis team that's had to travel for a couple of weeks, that's coming off the rivalry game and the emotions of that rivalry game in their home opener.
