Hour number two, Michael Bumpus, randomly Grant Paulson from 1067, the fan in DC walked in. Arthur DeCeaser, we went behind the counter a couple of segments ago. And then Jake Asman, just now on the New York Jets in studio here at Circa.
Who should I manifest? Who do I want to walk in? I'll say Colby Dant, Sports Gambling Podcast. Well, he's scheduled to join in at the bottom of this hour, 30 minutes from now. So he will be here indeed. I keep teasing it and I feel bad. I got to get to it here.
The core four, what we do is four bets in every market. And the goal is to be profitable. We did this in Major League Baseball, and we're going to be right on the edge of profitability. I'll be transparent about that. We've got some hits. We've got some misses. A couple of long shots go the right way for us, like Sal Stewart, NL Rookie of the Year at 13-1. Cade Smith saves leader at 22-1 right now. He's a little bit behind Baker from Tampa Bay.
But we have a chance to be profitable there. Can we do that also with the NFL and college football? We did Defensive Rookie of the Year yesterday. I want to now do Offensive Rookie of the Year, because this is a fascinating market to bet into this year, because you don't have a clear-cut quarterback. You don't have a guy who's going to be starting week one as a rookie, which traditionally, when you look at recent run, that's who wins this award.
Last 16 winners, I went back to 2010, just to make sure we get it right. And by the way, 16 years ago, that was Sam Bradford. Think about how long he's been out of football. That's crazy. Last 16 winners, eight quarterbacks, four receivers, four running backs. Now, record matters for the quarterbacks, but it doesn't really matter for the other guys. It's all about getting a run, getting an opportunity here. When there's no clear quarterback, it opens this thing up like last year. Last year, we had Tyler Schuck and Jackson Dart. Ted McMillan wound up winning this award. In 2022, there was a quarterback, it was Jaden Daniels. 2023, it was CJ. Stroud. I'm sorry, that was 2024 and 2023 2022, it was Garrett Wilson. Why? Brock Purdy only played nine games. Kenny Pickett was the starter for Pittsburgh. So you didn't have a clear cut option for offensive rookie of the year that year. That's how we ended up with Garrett Wilson, a receiver winning this award. A receiver won the year prior. Jamar Chase in 2021 Mac Jones would have probably been the best option at that point in time to win offensive rookie of the year. And then going back in time, 2017 was a year where Deshaun Watson was out there, but Alvin Camaro won rookie of the year. 2015, Jameis Winston was out there, but Todd Gurley won offensive rookie of the year in 2014
No quarterback jumped out. That was Blake Bortles. That was Johnny Manziel, which meant in 2014, Odo Beckham Jr. from the Giants was your offensive rookie of the year. Wide receiver has been trendy. Last five, three of them have been wide receivers. Three of the last five. Last running back who's won this award was Saquon Barkley. When the Giants went five and 11, just because your team's losing, if you're gonna get volume like Barkley did, you can be an offensive rookie of the year at the running back spot. Only three non-first rounders have won this award since 2010 Kamara in 17, Prescott in 16, Eddie Lacey in 2013
11 of the 16 were picked in the top 12 8 of the 16 were picked in the top 5 8 of the last 10 winners were top 10 picks. Should note that as well. But here's what I'm gonna do, because when I look at this market, I don't want to do anything at the top. Jeremiah loves 5.5 to 1 He may get a Saquon Barkley like run. I just think the likelihood isn't that high that it's the same. This isn't the Giants winning five games. I think it'd be a minor miracle if Arizona won five games. Judarian Price is all the way up to 6 to 1 That is quite a move here. I'm just seeing that. He is the second shot tied with Cardinal Tate. Fernando Mendoza goes from about 5 to 1 to 7 to 1 as the fourth shot. And then Dejan Stribling with all the injuries to San Francisco, he's all the way down to 11 to 1 Jacoby Lane from USA who's been killing it with Baltimore on campus 15 to 1 None of those guys are on my core four. We have to get to Mackay Lemon at 15 to 1 I'm looking at Draft Kings, but I saw 18 to 1 at plenty of other places. That is the first bet in the core four that I like.
