He sounds just like him. Right? That's what I did.
Chris McMonigle (0:07)
That's my best impersonation.
Craig Carton (0:09)
That was incredible. I thought he was right here with me.
Chris McMonigle (0:12)
Well, he's dead. It's not even possible, right?
Craig Carton (0:15)
Well.
Chris McMonigle (0:15)
Creed, that was one of my favorite bands. So any chance we have to play Creed, we're going to play it. Time for the Silvox Game of the Week, brought to you by Silvox Outdoor TVs, where big moments are better outside.
Craig Carton (0:29)
How was your football Sunday outside? Did you watch the TV outside in the rain?
Chris McMonigle (0:33)
I took the TV outside just to test it.
Craig Carton (0:36)
See if it could handle the weather? It was great.
Chris McMonigle (0:38)
I was chopping wood, watching Jets football outside with my 85-inch Silvox Outdoor TV that stands up to all the elements that Mother Nature has to offer. But your Game of the Week.
Craig Carton (0:48)
What was your Game of the Week?
Chris McMonigle (0:49)
The Game of the Week.
Craig Carton (0:51)
Come on.
Chris McMonigle (0:52)
Has to be the Dallas Cowboy Baltimore Raven game in Rio de Janeiro.
How about Jim Nantz with the call? A trio in Rio.
Craig Carton (1:04)
Sintilating.
Chris McMonigle (1:05)
Yeah. And by the way, Memo goes out to Brian Schottenheimer. They like to call him Shottie. That once, well, two things. On the third down pass, before they tied the game on the field goal 31-all.
Craig Carton (1:20)
Right.
Chris McMonigle (1:21)
He's got Pickens wide open by the front pylon. He threw the ball away on purpose.
And Schottenheimer says after the game, that's what we've taught him to do.
Craig Carton (1:31)
Yeah.
Chris McMonigle (1:31)
That's on me. Over coached him. Like what?
Craig Carton (1:35)
Yeah.
Chris McMonigle (1:36)
Back shoulders wide open for the touchdown to win the game.
Craig Carton (1:38)
Yeah.
Chris McMonigle (1:39)
Then after they kicked the field goal to tie the game, seven seconds on the clock, you don't kick the ball through the end zone. You do a little like more than a script kick, obviously.
Craig Carton (1:51)
Right.
Chris McMonigle (1:51)
You kick the ball in the field of play.
So they touch it. So time comes off the clock.
Craig Carton (1:57)
Correct.
Chris McMonigle (1:58)
Coaching one on one there.
Craig Carton (1:59)
Bad job by Schottenheimer.
Chris McMonigle (2:00)
That's more of a mistake.
Craig Carton (2:02)
Like to me, I understand the thought process when you see what you see in that spot. Like that's what they coach him. Like, okay, the play's not there. Throw it out of bounds. I do kind of trust. I kind of trust Dak Prescott to see that it's there.
Like, don't you think Dak should not just go right to the coaching route? Like, okay, I'm looking for the whatever and like, it's not there, I'm throwing it away because I got to make sure there's enough time to kick a field goal or whatever.
Chris McMonigle (2:24)
Right.
Craig Carton (2:24)
He's right. Just play the game on some level with Dak. But yeah, the outside, kicking the ball out of the end zone makes absolutely no sense.
Chris McMonigle (2:32)
No, it's just, again, there are opportunities for a coach to do something to give the team a better chance to win or vice versa. Schottenheimer put his team in a bad spot.
Craig Carton (2:41)
You still don't have to give up that passing play, though. That doesn't have to happen.
Chris McMonigle (2:44)
No.
Craig Carton (2:45)
You have to have the middle of the field wide.
Chris McMonigle (2:46)
I'm sure they were thinking, like, there's no possible way that seven seconds left, anything is going to happen. Yeah. Keep them in the middle of the field, things will be good. Maybe they forgot that Baltimore had a timeout. I'll tell you this about Lamar Jackson. After the debacle the week before, where Lamar Jackson gets picked off in a very similar spot with a chance to go in the game, everyone's like, I told you, can't trust Lamar Jackson. Why don't we at least give Lamar Jackson five seconds of praise here?
Not only does he make the pass, Presence of Mind, timeout, timeout, timeout. Then of course they kicked the 56 yarder to win it. That's the same kid, Tyler Loop for Baltimore, that missed the kick at the end of last year. They would have put the Ravens into the playoffs and I think win a Super Bowl.
Craig Carton (3:28)
Maybe.
Chris McMonigle (3:29)
Because the AFC was so weak last year.
