Hey, hey, 523 Carton Show Big Mac. There is a big football game tonight, by the by.

You've got the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks.

Chris McMonigle (0:10)

You had to change up by the by, huh?

Craig Carton (0:11)

By the by. I didn't even think of that.

Chris McMonigle (0:13)

Yeah, I guess I did. Couldn't say by the way anymore.

Anthony Gallo (0:15)

By the way, by the way, by the way, by the way, by the way.

SPEAKER_4 (0:17)

Hey.

Craig Carton (0:18)

Yeah, a little Denver Bronco action tonight against the Seattle Seahawks.

Chris McMonigle (0:22)

Interested in another stat? I know you love these stats.

SPEAKER_4 (0:25)

Sure, why not?

Chris McMonigle (0:25)

I found this one to be fascinating.

Craig Carton (0:26)

Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (0:27)

Do you know that since the Rams Giants, it is now 7 consecutive primetime games, the underdog has won outright. Seven consecutive.

Craig Carton (0:45)

Meaning Sunday nights, Thursday nights, and Monday nights?

Chris McMonigle (0:48)

Seven and 0, underdog outright winners. How about that?

Craig Carton (0:54)

Since the Giants lost.

Chris McMonigle (0:55)

That was the last one.

SPEAKER_4 (0:56)

Every underdog has won outright.

Chris McMonigle (0:58)

Correct. The Rams won in a big... Yeah. Every underdog has won outright. Cowboys lost to the Bucs. Bills just beat the Rams.

Craig Carton (1:05)

So that means... Well, the Atlanta Falcons played three straight primetime games, right?

Chris McMonigle (1:09)

Yeah. I think they were underdog and all.

Craig Carton (1:10)

Were they underdogged and all? I think they won all three, did they not?

Chris McMonigle (1:13)

Yeah. Obviously, the stat, unless the stat I read was incorrect.

Craig Carton (1:17)

Did you fact check the stat or were you just going with it?

Chris McMonigle (1:19)

It's a trusted...

Craig Carton (1:20)

Trusted source? Just out of curiosity, who's the source?

Chris McMonigle (1:24)

None of your business.

SPEAKER_4 (1:25)

Oh, it's like that.

Chris McMonigle (1:25)

I don't reveal my sources.

Craig Carton (1:27)

Okay.

Chris McMonigle (1:27)

You think I reveal my sources?

Craig Carton (1:29)

Let me go to TikTok real quick and see.

SPEAKER_4 (1:31)

Wait a second. I got it, Craig.

Craig Carton (1:32)

I know Twitter.

Chris McMonigle (1:33)

I got it from the guy I keep in the closet.

SPEAKER_4 (1:35)

Yeah. You got a guy?

Chris McMonigle (1:36)

I keep a guy in the closet. He just has those stats at any moment, whenever I need it.

Craig Carton (1:40)

The guys are going to have picks on tonight's game at 6 o'clock or as close as we can get to 6 o'clock. Let's say hi to Sasha in Poughkeepsie on the fan. Sasha, good afternoon. How are you?

SPEAKER_4 (1:51)

Hi, guys. I listen to you every day on my drive home from work. I actually grew up in Milwaukee, and I was very impressed as to your guys' brewing knowledge. You guys are spot on about that history. Yes. Actually, Keith Hernandez killed us in game 7

We lost to the Cardinals in 82 You guys were exactly right, but that's not why I was calling.

Craig Carton (2:11)

Go ahead.

SPEAKER_4 (2:13)

I had a basically, I just wanted to challenge the contention that nobody's going to watch this World Series unless there's New York teams or Dodgers teams. Big market teams are big stars.

Yeah, but if you look at the data, the rest of the country actually watches playoff games and World Series at a higher rate if one of those two teams are not in it. So if you look at the state of Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan, the whole Midwest.

Craig Carton (2:42)

If you want it to separate out, if you want it to separate out individual markets, then there's some basis to what you're saying, but nobody does that. We look at the entire number and here's the reality, and I'm not saying this is a baseball issue or anything else along those lines, but the reality is this, and with all due respect to Tampa, to Cleveland, to Milwaukee, if those three teams, if two of those three teams, it looks like that's gonna be the case because Milwaukee's up three nothing against the Dodgers, are in the World Series. It does not mean that we're not gonna get a great World Series, a competitive World Series, but here's the reality.

It will be by default the least watched World Series this decade.

Chris McMonigle (3:27)

I think it probably will.

Craig Carton (3:28)

And it won't be close. Because again, I'm not taking anything away. Now you know the answer to this question, but I don't know the answer, and this is the problem. If I said to you right now, do average baseball fans from coast to coast, can they name who's the biggest star on the Cleveland Guardians, Big Mac?
