Big Mac, great to have you here.

Game three tomorrow night, eight o'clock, Yankee Stadium, Max Fried on the mound. And we're gonna play a little game with you today. Outside of whatever your comments might be about last night's action, and who you blame, who you're upset about, and your overall emotional reaction to a debacle down in Tampa, you get one word to describe it. Big Mac, you get to go first. What is the one word you would use to describe last night's Yankee loss to Tampa? Embarrassing!

Chris McMonigle (0:34)

Yeah, no, everyone said embarrassing.

Craig Carton (0:35)

Debacle! Craig, what's your word? Unacceptable!

Incompetent!

Chris McMonigle (0:43)

Yeah, all of those in one. I'm trying to think of an encompassing word for all of these things.

Craig Carton (0:49)

The Yankees lost last night can be summed up in one word. That word is?

Chris McMonigle (0:54)

Abomination.

Craig Carton (0:54)

Abomination! All right, I like that one. That's a new one. That's the first time we had that on the show. Let me write that one down.

Chris McMonigle (1:00)

Don't ask me to spell it.

Craig Carton (1:01)

But I got it for you.

Chris McMonigle (1:02)

Because I'll easily just tell you I can't.

SPEAKER_3 (1:03)

And we don't have to use it again. And we haven't used it before, right?

Craig Carton (1:08)

All right, we'll get your calls. Here we go.

Mike is in Larchmont on the fan. Mike, how you doing, pal?

SPEAKER_4 (1:16)

What's up, boys? How are you? I'm doing great. How's everything? Good.

Craig Carton (1:18)

You got what's your one word to describe last night's loss?

SPEAKER_4 (1:22)

I screamed embarrassing the same time you guys said it.

Craig Carton (1:25)

Embarrassing!

SPEAKER_3 (1:26)

I mean, it wasn't. There was no doubt about it.

SPEAKER_4 (1:28)

It was absolutely embarrassing.

Craig Carton (1:29)

I think that's going to be the winner today.

Chris McMonigle (1:30)

I mean, it clear. I just didn't want to use it because everyone's going to, because that's what it was. It was the most... It was as embarrassed I've ever been to be a Yankee fan.

Craig Carton (1:38)

Rightfully so. What do you got in the game, Mike? Go ahead.

SPEAKER_4 (1:42)

I'm so mad, but I'm going to choose to be happy right now because I'm talking to you guys. I just want to say I listen all the time. You guys are great. Craig and Big Mac, you guys are the best.

My original call was, I was listening yesterday and I was so upset when Big Mac said, why do people want Volpe over jazz at second? Last night was the exact reason why. He's a selfish player. He doesn't care.

He's never focused. I think that that affects the team. But I'm going to switch out. I just want to talk about the TROP. By the way, I don't think...

Chris McMonigle (2:16)

Yeah, let me just...

Craig Carton (2:17)

One at a time. I don't know what he did last night was selfish.

SPEAKER_4 (2:21)

No.

Craig Carton (2:21)

I know he's not going to be back next year and Yankee fans aren't going to lose any sleep over that.

Chris McMonigle (2:26)

He should not be back.

Craig Carton (2:27)

And he didn't play well this year.

Chris McMonigle (2:29)

Let's just be honest, though. The reason why I want him to play over Volpe, I get what happened.

Craig Carton (2:33)

Because he's a better baseball player.

Chris McMonigle (2:35)

He's a vastly superior baseball player.

Craig Carton (2:37)

That's not up for debate.

Chris McMonigle (2:38)

Like, it's not even close.

Craig Carton (2:39)

Now, in regards to the TROP, we lost Mike there.

Chris McMonigle (2:41)

Anthony Volpe is a borderline major league player. Jazz has been a super productive major league player.

Craig Carton (2:47)

I mean, his first 162 games, he was, I think, 15-50.

SPEAKER_3 (2:50)

He was a 40-40 guy. Was it 40-40?

Chris McMonigle (2:52)

Got it. In his first 162 at the Yankees, he was 40-40.

Craig Carton (2:55)

Now, I will say the same thing I think Mike was going to say. I'm sorry that we lost you there, Mike. After the heel on the heels of what happened between Milwaukee and San Diego a couple nights earlier, with the ball that hit the roof there, the fact that happened with Spencer Jones last night, like I don't understand how Major League Baseball allows that or tolerates that or why, and this is maybe my bigger pet peeve, that should be a dead ball.

The fact that Spencer Jones hits the roof with the ball, and it looks like maybe the ball got stuck up there for a second, and then, yo.
