Yo, yo, 10 in front of 5, Carton Show, Big Mac. Before I get to your calls, got a quick question for you guys. And Gallo, Pete, Big Mac, of course, if any of you want to chime in on this, feel free, turn your mics on.

Before you get into it, by a show of hands, do any of you know the story about the infamous Mark Jackson, New York Nick card from 1990?

Chris McMonigle (0:32)

Yes.

Craig Carton (0:33)

You do know that.

Chris McMonigle (0:34)

I do know.

Craig Carton (0:34)

Okay, don't say what it is.

Peter Anthony Gallo? Do either of you know why that specific card is such a hot commodity amongst collectors?

Chris McMonigle (0:44)

No.

Craig Carton (0:45)

I didn't know until this morning. How long have you known?

Chris McMonigle (0:48)

Oh, I don't know. It's like one of those things you've just known for a while?

Craig Carton (0:51)

I've just known it.

Pete Gallo (0:52)

Talk about like Billy Ripken level?

Craig Carton (0:54)

Different. So, the Billy Ripken stories, he wrote FU on his bat, right?

Chris McMonigle (0:58)

It was more than FU. It was, what was it? It was...

Craig Carton (1:02)

Don't say it, obviously.

SPEAKER_4 (1:03)

I thought it was just FU., no?

Chris McMonigle (1:04)

No, it was like blank head or something like that. It was like a nickname with the F word in it, but it wasn't blank U. It was like...

SPEAKER_4 (1:11)

Right.

Craig Carton (1:12)

I guess the cameraman didn't see it, so it got printed out in all its colors.

Chris McMonigle (1:14)

It was on the knob of the bat he's holding.

Craig Carton (1:16)

Got it.

Chris McMonigle (1:16)

And this is similar because it's something in the background of the picture.

SPEAKER_4 (1:18)

Yes.

Craig Carton (1:19)

So, Darren Revelle told me this story this morning. I never knew this before.

Chris McMonigle (1:24)

F-face.

Craig Carton (1:24)

F-face. Okay. So, there you go. So, the 1990 Mark Jackson, NBA hoops, New York Knicks trading card, playing card, right? In the background of that card, there are two specific people sitting courtside. Oh. The Menendez brothers.

After they had already killed their parents.

Chris McMonigle (1:52)

That I didn't, I don't know if I knew.

Craig Carton (1:53)

Yes.

Chris McMonigle (1:54)

The picture was taken after.

Craig Carton (1:56)

Yes. That's right. Ravel confirmed to me today.

Chris McMonigle (1:58)

Yeah. I knew it was them in the background. I didn't know if it was before or after.

Craig Carton (2:01)

So, I'll put the picture of this card out so you guys can all see it. Yeah. But in the very left side of the card, you have Eric and, was it Lyle? I don't remember.

Chris McMonigle (2:13)

I don't remember his name.

Craig Carton (2:14)

The Menendez brothers, post-murder, are sitting there, front court, and that's the picture of Mark, it's like an action shot of Mark Jackson, and that's why that card.

Chris McMonigle (2:25)

Lyle and Eric, yes.

Craig Carton (2:26)

Lyle and Eric, pardon me, became so popular amongst collectors.

Chris McMonigle (2:30)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (2:31)

That's crazy, huh?

Chris McMonigle (2:32)

That is crazy, yep.

Craig Carton (2:33)

Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (2:34)

I had known that for a while, yeah.

Craig Carton (2:36)

It's weird. I'd never heard that story before.

I'm not a big collector either, but you'd think along the way more people would have known about that story, no?

Pete Gallo (2:44)

Well, the whole thing about them was after they killed their parents, they went on this crazy shopping spree, which they shouldn't have done, but they made kind of-

SPEAKER_4 (2:51)

Like the days after?

Pete Gallo (2:52)

Yeah. They were going crazy.

Chris McMonigle (2:54)

You think it's the shopping spree they shouldn't have done? That's really-

Pete Gallo (3:00)

Well-

Chris McMonigle (3:00)

I mean, they went on a shopping spree. If you ask me, I feel like that was rude.

Pete Gallo (3:06)

Well, if they wanted to get away from the murder-

Chris McMonigle (3:08)

It wasn't really the nicest thing they should have. I wouldn't have went on a storm. Personally, just me. After murdering my family, I probably would have laid low, but I understand.

Pete Gallo (3:17)

Point taken.

Craig Carton (3:19)

The big problem wasn't so much the killing of their parents.

Chris McMonigle (3:21)

Was that a mistake?

Craig Carton (3:22)

It was the shopping spree after killing their parents.

Chris McMonigle (3:24)

That's the mistake they made. I'll be totally honest with you.

Craig Carton (3:28)

That reminds me of Norman Donald.

Chris McMonigle (3:29)

I know what he meant. Yes.
