Time for your phone calls, I've been Promising, and now we deliver on that, Promise Giant Fans, as you deal with a body blow of all body blows. Mario is at Long Beach on the fan. Mario, good afternoon, how are you today, kid?

SPEAKER_2 (0:13)

What's going on, how you doing? Wow, news. You know, while I was waiting to get on the phone, I looked it up, and you two could do MCL Springs grades, and it says a grade one is four to six weeks, a grade two is eight, and it says a grade three, and it sounds like this is what probably it is. It sounds like grade three might need surgery. If there's no surgery, it's eight to 12 years, eight to 12 weeks.

Craig Carton (0:38)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_2 (0:38)

I gotcha, look, if you need surgery, it's a wrap.

Craig Carton (0:41)

Everyone knows, if he gets operated on, it's a wrap for the year.

SPEAKER_2 (0:46)

And even if it's not, it's eight to 12 weeks.

Craig Carton (0:48)

Yeah, look, I think right now you have to operate under the guidance of, it's probably over for the year.

Chris McMonigle (0:55)

Yes.

Craig Carton (0:55)

That's all. That's, I think that's a fair guess right now, based on how cloak and dagger the Giants are being, because if it wasn't serious, they wouldn't be cloak and dagger about it. They would have come out today and said, well, they're going to have four to six, or whatever the numbers might be. So the reports are obviously accurate, and now the Giants are trying to figure out, with Jaxson Dart and his aging family, maybe they're trying to figure that out. What doctor are we going to? Do you want a second opinion, and all those things that come with it.

Chris McMonigle (1:21)

If we don't, yeah, maybe it's something along the lines is what he's talking about. If we don't have surgery, you could be back in 12 weeks. Is it worth it to come back in 12 weeks?

Craig Carton (1:28)

Because if you wait till January.

Chris McMonigle (1:29)

On an unstable knee.

Craig Carton (1:30)

Right.

Chris McMonigle (1:31)

Or are you better off just having the surgery, and we'll see you next year on a stable knee?

Craig Carton (1:36)

I always think that's the right answer.

Chris McMonigle (1:37)

It's not an ACL, it's an MCL, because I feel confident that the doctors should be, most of the time, they're able to tell the ACL or not, at least that on the field just by giving him a.

Craig Carton (1:48)

Yes, it's like a finger test, the way they manipulate your knee.

Chris McMonigle (1:51)

So if it's not the ACL, it's the MCL, you would think that surgery, he'll be good to go next year.

Craig Carton (1:55)

Let me ask you this question, and there's no answer to it.

Chris McMonigle (1:57)

Can you trust him to stay healthy?

Craig Carton (1:58)

Neither one of us are doctors on this. Is there a chance he made it worse by walking around on it afterwards?

Chris McMonigle (2:05)

I don't know.

Craig Carton (2:06)

Neither do I. I'm just throwing it out there like, I doubt it. Or is he that unstable where, you're walking around on the sideline and just trying to be a normal guy?

Which I think the teammates respect, don't get me wrong.

Chris McMonigle (2:17)

I would think.

Craig Carton (2:17)

Could that have made it worse?

Chris McMonigle (2:18)

I would think if that was a possibility, the doctors wouldn't have let him out and walk around. He was standing on the sideline walking around. He was trying to get back in the game. He was trying to get back in the game, so he felt at least that he could run, I guess, on some level.

Craig Carton (2:31)

I have no idea. Or stand in the pocket.

Chris McMonigle (2:33)

Yeah, I have no idea. But it makes you question everything. This season and the future of Jaxson Dart. I hate to say it, because it's not his fault.

Craig Carton (2:40)

No, this was not his fault. It wasn't about how he plays the game. But that's his reputation.

Chris McMonigle (2:43)

But, yeah.

Craig Carton (2:44)

He gets hurt a lot.

Chris McMonigle (2:45)

And let's be honest, if Joe Burrow didn't have the one season and go to the Super Bowl, it'd be the same thing. But he had that one season, he went to the Super Bowl, so now it's worth the risk.

Craig Carton (2:53)

And he won in Kansas City multiple times.

Chris McMonigle (2:55)

And he's beat Kansas City, so now it's like, well, it's worth the risk. He hasn't had the opportunity to do that.
