Anyhow, 423, Carton Show, Big Mac.
Let's take a few calls here, just looking at my handy dandy notebook here. Pretty much got it all in. Giants are still underdogged to the Saints. One and a half has not moved an inch, which I do find interesting.
Chris McMonigle (0:15)
I find it very interesting.
Craig Carton (0:16)
And the New York Jets are still seven and a half point underdogs on the road against New England.
Chris McMonigle (0:22)
I feel like...
Craig Carton (0:23)
That hasn't moved either.
Chris McMonigle (0:24)
No.
Craig Carton (0:26)
Like, zero. If you told me the Giants went off as a pick-em...
Chris McMonigle (0:29)
I think both lines are...
Craig Carton (0:30)
I can see that.
Chris McMonigle (0:31)
I think both lines are begging you to take the New York teams.
Craig Carton (0:35)
Well, the Giants one is for sure. The New England one, I think, is more based on some recency bias and the fact that they've also come off two huge wins and Drake May looks better.
Chris McMonigle (0:47)
I think Drake May was undefeated against the spread last year as a touchdown or more favorite. They blew teams out a lot last year.
They just blew out the Vegas Raiders this year, so typically when they play an inferior team, they put up big numbers. But we'll see if this Jets defense at the top five defense can hold this newfound Drake May to a limited performance.
Craig Carton (1:10)
You brought this up yesterday and I had a sleepless night because of it. I actually even watched Cars 1 to go to bed last night. That's how bothered I was by something you said yesterday.
I want to be clear about this because you negatively impacted my sleepless night. Not your fault.
Chris McMonigle (1:25)
No, it's okay.
Craig Carton (1:26)
You said something thought provoking and I tossed and turned all night. And then I finally came to terms with my take on it. I didn't think about you again and I slept soundly for three hours, okay? Because we're hunting here? Yeah, here you go.
Chris McMonigle (1:40)
Can't get movie quotes by me.
Craig Carton (1:42)
Here's what it was.
You were right that earlier this year, we, my people, the Jets fans collectively were content with losing to the Detroit Lions because we fought back. And there was some morality in that. We don't quit. We fought back. That was before the debacle against the Bears, obviously, right?
Chris McMonigle (2:05)
Yep.
Craig Carton (2:06)
There will be no such celebrating competition or being competitive against the Patriots this weekend. This is a win or F you kind of moment.
This is not, oh, 27-26, lost on a botched two point conversion. But gosh, Donut Billy, we're right there.
Chris McMonigle (2:28)
You sure?
Craig Carton (2:29)
Not this weekend.
Chris McMonigle (2:29)
Okay.
Craig Carton (2:30)
We had that and I own it. I said the same thing about Detroit. We fought back, tied the game late, had a chance, right? Doug Green Bay, I'm so upset because we should have won that game.
The Patriots represent something different because they're on our division. But B, I don't think they're very good.
Chris McMonigle (2:48)
Okay.
Craig Carton (2:49)
I think if you went position by position based on the Patriots' injuries that they're dealing with, the Jets are as good or better than New England.
I will not tolerate a close loss and come in on that Monday and say to you, man, we're this close. I take a lot of positives out of the loss to New England. And I wanted you to know that.
Chris McMonigle (3:10)
Okay.
Craig Carton (3:10)
And I speak for all Jet fans.
Chris McMonigle (3:12)
Do you?
Craig Carton (3:12)
The days of moral victories are over, sir.
Chris McMonigle (3:16)
Ended with Detroit two weeks ago?
Craig Carton (3:17)
That's exactly right. That's exactly right.
Chris McMonigle (3:19)
Okay.
Craig Carton (3:19)
Yep. That's where we're at as Jet fans. So that's that. Okay?
Chris McMonigle (3:23)
If you say so.
Kerry (3:24)
And I want you to know that.
Chris McMonigle (3:26)
I'm glad you thought it through.
Craig Carton (3:27)
I did. I gave it a lot of thought last time. I hope so. And then I watched Cars 1 and I went to bed.
Chris McMonigle (3:31)
You know what bothers me too?
It's Cars. There's Cars 2, there's Cars 3
Craig Carton (3:35)
Cars 1 Just so you know, because if I say Cars, you would have said 2 or 3 or 1 I would say Cars 1
Chris McMonigle (3:39)
Just say Cars.
