**Alec Fields** (0:00)
Hi, I'm Alec.
**Paul McGee** (0:02)
Wait, what?
**Alec Fields** (0:03)
Oh, I was gonna try something different.
**Paul McGee** (0:05)
Oh, okay.
**Alec Fields** (0:06)
Welcome back to The Pod of Greed.
**Paul McGee** (0:09)
Welcome back indeed, y'all. It's another week of The Pod, and that means...
**Alec Fields** (0:14)
The only pod.
**Paul McGee** (0:15)
Yeah, on the internet. There are some offline apparently, but we're the only one.
**Alec Fields** (0:19)
Yeah, we're the only one that's online.
**Paul McGee** (0:20)
Like online. However, that would work. Like, I don't know if you have a podcast if you're...
**Alec Fields** (0:25)
I imagine an offline podcast is just the news.
**Paul McGee** (0:29)
Yeah, I suppose so.
Well, anyways, hopefully you're all having a great week. We're excited to have you back. There are a lot of cool stories this week.
**Alec Fields** (0:39)
We've found some random stuff.
**Paul McGee** (0:41)
Yeah, it's kind of all over the place.
A few different card game things. And I'm excited to talk about all of them. Before we do though, as always...
**Alec Fields** (0:50)
Put your ones up.
**Paul McGee** (0:52)
Ones in chat, if you're listening on the YouTube premiere. If you're not, then we'd love it if you would just thumbs up the video.
Well, I guess either person can thumbs up. You should probably thumbs up either way. But, you know, leave a comment, say hi, share the pod, follow, sub.
**Alec Fields** (1:06)
If you're on mobile, hype it up.
**Paul McGee** (1:08)
All of the nice things really goes a long way. Yeah, so this week, there has not been major Yu-Gi-Oh stuff, but I did want to talk about a Yu-Gi-Oh story that we did not mention last week because I had kind of forgotten it had happened.
**Alec Fields** (1:24)
What?
**Paul McGee** (1:24)
There was a Yu-Gi-Oh commercial.
**Alec Fields** (1:26)
Oh yeah, we did forget.
**Paul McGee** (1:28)
A commercial that they had just released. Konami's Yu-Gi-Oh TCG official account released this interesting commercial that I guess is going to be probably like run as like an ad on different places online.
**Alec Fields** (1:41)
Yeah, I mean, they don't really make too many commercials in Yu-Gi-Oh. See, they make so few, I didn't even get the word out properly.
**Paul McGee** (1:50)
So explain this commercial a little bit from what you saw of it. We watched it again earlier.
**Alec Fields** (1:54)
So kind of a synopsis of it?
**Paul McGee** (1:56)
Yeah.
**Alec Fields** (1:56)
All right.
**Paul McGee** (1:57)
I'll try to remember to actually put it on that.
**Alec Fields** (2:00)
It's a commercial that kind of switches between like, well, I guess it's the present day and then the past, even think like the early 2000s. Grown man's watching a YCS on TV. And it's actually Jeff Leonard's Exodia Combo. We all kind of remember that hype moment. And it takes him back to his childhood where he watched Yu-Gi-Yu's Exodia against Kaiba.
And the kid gets inspired and just teleports to the nearest card shop. And then Billy Brake and...
Some of the Konami employees work at this card shop.
**Paul McGee** (2:40)
Yeah. And they get him to buy him a box.
**Alec Fields** (2:43)
He buys an entire box of Yu-Gi-Oh cards with just the cash in his pocket. Which I guess that kid's loaded, but he doesn't collect that much. Maybe it's inflation. I don't know.
And so the kid busts open his packs. He immediately binders and doesn't sleeve his cards.
**Paul McGee** (3:00)
Well, I think that was accurate to the times. Because he's remembering, I guess, the kid you would have just had those binders with the...
**Alec Fields** (3:06)
True, true.
**Paul McGee** (3:07)
And so then after going to the shop and I guess seeing these people there that were playing and getting a box, as an adult, he now pulls out his binder of cards again and remembers, Yu-Gi-Oh was so cool, I guess I should play it again.
**Alec Fields** (3:21)
What was the last line? Was that Billy's voice theme?
**Paul McGee** (3:24)
Yeah, it's like, it's your turn to duel or something kinda like that.
**Alec Fields** (3:28)
It's your move?
**Paul McGee** (3:29)
Yeah. So that was the commercial. It was interesting because you'll see some familiar faces in there outside of just Billy and Jerome. There's also like, I saw RhymeStyle and his girlfriend. I think they're both like kinda just extras who are playing at the card shop. I saw Asala and a few other people. So this is commercial that I guess Konami shot probably like last year or something, but they finally released it. And it seems like the idea is that like, hey, the Yu-Gi-Oh that you remember is still a thing and you can still play it and that's awesome.
