And welcome to the Go Get'em Podcast. After a miserable final two games of the White Sox series.

Pain. There's no other way to put it. Pain. It seems darker in here than usual. I don't know. Maybe that's a good omen. Because I feel, I mean, they split the series against the White Sox. It feels like a loss, right? Especially for this podcast because I did a podcast on the first two games, which felt better than these two games. And just heartbreaking fashion. It takes forever. I was up until 1.30. Believe it or not, I was up until 1.30. In the morning last night, watching that miserable game. Because I'm crazy and I refused to fast forward through things. And I got to the game late because of when I work and I was with the kids. And I helped my wife with something. So I started the game late. I was up until almost 1.45 watching that miserable third game of the series. And then today, same thing, extra innings lost. They are the worst team on the road. Extra innings in by a million miles in the last, you know, in this new iteration of format with the runner at second base. Yes, they are the best at home. Who cares? Right now, they are one in eight this year in extra innings. Most of them have been on the road, at least five, because they are the first team in Major League Baseball history to be leading in extra innings in five games and lose all five. Now, slightly misleading when you say Major League Baseball history, because they start with the runner at second base. So it's more common to score with that runner on the road than it typically is through Major League history. But five, five different times, including both of these games, where they take the lead and we'll go through them. And then we'll get to a little bit of the trade deadline stuff, but ultimately pain and mistakes and strikeouts and offense. And yes, a boon quote that everybody goes nuts on and look, you know how I feel about that. We don't have to get into it immediately. I just, I don't understand. Look, do I think Boone should have come out and said the Ali Sanchez play was a mistake and he should have never thrown the ball? And we need to be better than that or whatever words you think he needs to say that would make you happy after a loss like that. And my point is, I don't think anything he says would make you happy, but again, we're hung up on it like it really matters. I'm sorry, I don't think it matters. Yes, they continue to make mistakes. All teams do. You see, again, we watched them play. I watched Philadelphia, who everybody loves and Don Manley is a great manager. Everybody thinks Don Manley is the bee's knees. I watched that team throw the ball around and drop pop-ups and look like crap and make base running mistakes.
We all know how the season ends. Same crap, different year. If you're insisting, again, I know how it won't end. It won't end with, at least it better not. It won't end with Max Schumann in critical situations. It won't end with Ali Sanchez behind the plate.
It won't end with Jason Dominguez hitting third.
It won't end with Anthony Volpe hitting fifth.
It won't end, like, I know it won't end that way. And again, like, we could say this after two games, and believe me, I'm as frustrated as anyone over these last two games. They were hideous. But I don't know. Part of me, like, once I get away from being angry about it, they're 11-6 in their last 17 They haven't lost the series since the Minnesota series. I don't know how much better with this team we expect them to be, quite honestly. I don't know what we're expecting of this group to be better than 11-6. Now, could they have won these two games? Absolutely, right? So they should theoretically be 13-4. I'm with you.
And they need these games. And I'm not saying it's excusable. I think last night was much worse than today. Today, the offense just sucked. That's like they suck. The offense sucks. We've been talking about it consistently. Until they get guys back from injury and until they make moves at the deadline, if they even make moves at the deadline, this offense sucks. They went from leading the American League in run scored, leading the American League with on-base percentage, leading the American League in OPS, to being like dead last in all of those things. The offense sucks. So like today is somewhat, I'm not saying expected, because you could push around one run. But ultimately, I don't expect much from this offense. But when you take a 4-0 lead and then do nothing and squander opportunities in the 6th and 7th that we'll get to, like last night to me is the worst loss of the year. And it's the one that bothers me a hell of a lot more than today, because if they lose today, you just go, well, the offense sucks. They took three out of four. But again, they haven't lost the series since July 5th. They are 11-6 in the last 17
