Ike, a lot of things have to go right for Auburn on offense, but could they go so right that Byrum Brown could win the Heisman?
**Ike Jones** (2:38)
I'd love to see it.
**B Wil** (2:39)
Let's go.
**Mike G** (2:48)
Welcome on in to The Auburn Express, powered by The War Rapport. I'm your host, Mike G. Turn us on, turn us up. We'll turn it out. I'm here with my good friend, Ike Jones, a co-show host here at The War Rapport to talk a little Auburn football. On today's show, we're going to play a little what if.
And it's not really a what if because he's actually done this before. But a lot will be on Byrum Brown's shoulders as we're on the eve of fall camp. I think one of the things I'm hoping we hear come out of fall camp is just that Byrum Brown is doing Byrum Brown things. Yeah. No struggling. No, you know, it was he had a little bit of a rough day. Yeah. But I'm not making a whole lot of judgments based on that day. I expect him to be who he's been in the regular season this season.
But if he is that guy, is that guy good enough to be one of the best in the country? Talk to me about Byrum Brown, man. We talk a lot about the potential for him to be a 3,000, 1,000 guy, but can he really do that in the SEC?
**Ike Jones** (3:55)
I don't know if he's going to be a 3,000, 1,000 guy, but I do think that he's going to have a lot of opportunities to put up some big numbers just because of the way that this offense works. And he's going to be a dynamic rushing threat. That's the one thing I'm not worried about, whether it's going to translate is whether his legs will be able to translate. This isn't like a flukey, oh, he's not going to be able to run like that in the SEC guy. No, as good as these SEC defenses are, he's still going to get his in that way. I think the bigger concern is whether or not the passing numbers will be there for him.
But a lot of that is just going to have to do with how well he connects on some of those deep shots. Remember that one deep shot he had at A-Day, slightly overthrown or slightly under run by the receiver, depending on who you ask. He connects on a couple of those early in the season.
