That was so fun.

Welcome back to the SCNWA studio. The Fremantle Dockers held their grand final week players media day at the Coburn Arc yesterday. And we caught up with Caleb Serong.
SPEAKER_2 (0:42)
Yes, Caleb Serong.
He breaks the shackles and kicks his first. He's pretty happy too. Big celebration. Open goal. Serong has a shot. That is brilliant. A really chain of hand passes from right half back. And Caleb Serong kicks his second goal. Here's Serong. Is this his third goal? Kicks to an open goal. There was a hold in the goal square. How does the umpire see it? He says, all clear.
Serong kicks his third.
Mark Duffield (1:14)
Hock's brilliantly down.
SPEAKER_2 (1:15)
Serong! Serong!
Stoppage goal for the Dockers. Welcome back, Caleb.
SPEAKER_6 (1:20)
Mungwool punt to Serong.
SPEAKER_3 (1:22)
Serong's got some time to swing around and put it straight through.
Caleb Serong brings the house down. Clark back again to Serong, who bombs from 60 Magnificent. Caleb Serong take a bow. That is huge.
SPEAKER_6 (1:37)
The final turn gives it to Jackson. Fremantle stare down the fear.
And for just the second time in club history, the Dockers are going to the grand final.
Mark Duffield (1:49)
Caleb, you're into Fremantle's second ever grand final. What's the feeling?
Caleb Serong (1:55)
The feeling's really a lot of excitement.
I think it's hard to kind of put into words right now how we're feeling. It's happened pretty quick and we're kind of into the week already. So everything moves pretty fast, but there's a lot of excitement around the group. We're looking forward to the week.
Mark Duffield (2:11)
What was the routine after the win against Sydney? What did you do that night? And when did you get back to Perth the next day?
Caleb Serong (2:18)
Yeah, it was a big kind of 12 hours after the game. There was a lot of excitement in the rooms and you're kind of getting around your family and friends and everyone that made the trip up. And obviously I had a milestone game, so I had a lot of family there, which was amazing to share that with them.
And then, yeah, a lot of celebrations in the rooms, you're kind of enjoying it with your teammates, and then you're on the bus and you're back to the hotel and it's all pretty subdued after that and you're starting to think about what's next. And I wasn't much sleep that night. We were flying out. I think we left, we stayed on WA time, so we left the hotel around seven o'clock and then we're on the plane and we're back. And yesterday I was pretty tired and there was plenty of boys having a nap and sleeping in the AVO and early night last night and feeling pretty good this morning.
Mark Duffield (3:00)
It was a big day for the family, wasn't it? Yourself and Jai playing in the game, Jai often playing on you and also playing well. What was it like in the aftermath?
Caleb Serong (3:10)
It was tough. It was like after the game, he was the first one I saw. I said it on the coverage after the game, but I almost felt like crying. It was bittersweet in that moment when I first saw him. And obviously when that siren goes, it's pure elation and you're so excited and what it means. But then you kind of see him and see the devastation. And I just know how much work he's put into it and how much he wanted it as well, because it's the same as what I felt going to the game.
You want to win, you want to be a part of it. And unfortunately, one of us wasn't going to be able to do that. And I can't sit here and say, I'm not glad it's me. But it was a bittersweet feeling, a little bit conflicting. But the family, it was a big few days, a big lead up for them, especially mum and dad. And yeah, I think they're, yeah, I think they're processed it now, and they're excited about the week ahead. But yeah, it was pretty emotional few days.
