C-Mac Calls Out Cashman as Clock Ticks

The Carton Show with Craig Carton & Chris McMonigle

August 3, 2026

The Yankees are running out of time before the MLB Trade Deadline, and Chris McMonigle is NOT happy. On this segment of The Carton Show on WFAN, C-Mac breaks down why Brian Cashman must land a legitimate starting catcher and bullpen help — or risk what he calls a historic failure.
Speakers: Craig Carton, Chris McMonigle

The final countdown!
Carton Show Big Mac, hope you guys had a great weekend. Obviously, for many of you, as a baseball fan, today's a big, big day. Trade deadline, especially if you're for a team that's got a shot, maybe, to make a little run. Did you happen to see, in the Rangers game this weekend, the managers were having an argument, and then because of where it was in the game, it was time for God Bless America. So they're about to get into it, but all of a sudden on the speakers, God bless, they stopped.
Hand over their heart, hat off, the whole thing, with show respect. Then as soon as God Bless America came to an end, they went right back to arguing. I've never seen that before. It was awesome.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:44)
That is funny. I think I've seen it before, but yeah, that is so funny that in the moment, you recognize what a bad look it would be if you just argued throughout the entire thing of the song.

**Craig Carton** (0:55)
There would be people going, You're so un-American. You hate the flag. You had commie bastards.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:00)
Gallo would be all over them.

**Craig Carton** (1:02)
Gallo's an American flag guy?

**Chris McMonigle** (1:03)
It's just that you say the slightest thing about soccer, suddenly you hate him.

**Craig Carton** (1:08)
Do you have an American flag at the crib?

**Chris McMonigle** (1:09)
Of course, on the front of the house.

**Craig Carton** (1:11)
Of course, not everyone does.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:12)
I have an American flag waving on the front porch.

**Craig Carton** (1:15)
Do you take it down every day?

**Chris McMonigle** (1:16)
I know you're supposed to, right?

**Craig Carton** (1:18)
I'm just asking. I'm not going to be critical of your disparaging the flag in the matter you are.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:24)
When there's a hurricane, I take it in.

**Craig Carton** (1:26)
No, you don't.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:26)
Yes, I do. For a hurricane, I do.

**Craig Carton** (1:28)
No, you don't.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:29)
Or if it's tattered.

**Craig Carton** (1:30)
It's okay that you don't.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:31)
If it's tattered in the least.

**Craig Carton** (1:32)
You replace it?

**Chris McMonigle** (1:33)
I'll replace it. I think we've gone through. I've been at the house for almost 10 years. I think we've gone through about three or four flags.

**Craig Carton** (1:39)
I haven't.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:40)
I don't believe it.

**Craig Carton** (1:41)
It's okay if you don't.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:42)
I know. I don't.

**Craig Carton** (1:43)
You don't have to try to, you know. I don't take it in. If the weather is... Curry favorite, too. Those of us that love the flag.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:48)
If the weather is significantly bad, like, again, I don't think I've had a hurricane up by me. Right.

**Craig Carton** (1:53)
So you haven't taken it down during a hurricane.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:56)
I just said no.

**Craig Carton** (1:57)
Yeah, but you're like, yeah, if during a hurricane, I take it down.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:59)
If it was like a hurricane, I might.

**Craig Carton** (2:00)
You might. But you haven't. Because you haven't had a hurricane.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:03)
No, but I do replace it if it looks bad or even worn at all. I want a nice, bright-looking flag.

**Craig Carton** (2:08)
How big a flag are we talking about?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:09)
Not that big.

**Craig Carton** (2:10)
Like a three foot by five foot kind of thing?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:12)
A little smaller, maybe?

**Craig Carton** (2:14)
Like the kind, like the little toy one they give away at the checkout counter at ShopRite?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:17)
No, it's a legitimate flag on a legitimate pole.

**Craig Carton** (2:20)
Is the pole part of the house itself or is it in front of the house?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:24)
It's in front of the house.

**Craig Carton** (2:25)
Like it's got some pole with the rope pulled up and down?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:28)
There's like pillars on my front porch and I have it attached to a pillar and then it, you know.

**Craig Carton** (2:32)
Lovely.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:33)
That way.

**Craig Carton** (2:33)
Don't do that.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:34)
I know.

**Craig Carton** (2:36)
Pete, you see that?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:37)
I'm giving the angle of the American flag.

**Craig Carton** (2:38)
You're hiling me as much as you're doing.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:40)
That comes with words you say. I'm talking the angle.

**Craig Carton** (2:43)
No, no, you just did it three times in a row. You haven't stopped doing it.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:47)
Stop.

**Craig Carton** (2:48)
Seems like you do it so effortlessly.
