I mean, I guess Sam Raimi stuff and and beyond, Burn Notice as well. All the Evil Dead trilogy and all that stuff. Interesting. Interesting career you have, Bruce.

Well, it's enough to pay the bills, but no one's going through my garbage.

No one's doing the 600-millimeter telephoto thing.

Yeah. You know what you want? I think. I think you want a level of fame that is just like when you meet people, it's like they went to high school with you.
So, it's like if you're just famous enough, when you get pulled over by a cop, he'll come around the window and go, oh, but...

**Bruce Campbell** (1:33)
But they won't know your name.

**Adam Carolla** (1:34)
No, but they know enough where you'll get a warning, not a ticket, but it's the same as a guy would do if you went to high school. If that cop pulled over someone he went to high school with and he was on the football team with him, he'd act the same way. He wouldn't give them a police escort, he wouldn't do anything, but he'd just let him off with a warning.

I've walked into a number of stores and people go, oh, nice to see you again.

**Adam Carolla** (1:57)
Right.

**Bruce Campbell** (1:58)
I've never been in there before in my life.

**Adam Carolla** (2:00)
Well, you realize how the human mind works.

**Bruce Campbell** (2:05)
It's an imprint over years.

**Adam Carolla** (2:07)
Yes, and people, you know, people also have a weird, like their memory's really weird. Like people say to me all the time, oh man, I've been listening to you on the radio since the 80s, man. And I'll go, I started in 95, like there was no 80s me. I was on a construction site in the 80s.

**Bruce Campbell** (2:27)
But that's how long you've been around.

**Adam Carolla** (2:28)
In their brain, that's how long.

**Bruce Campbell** (2:31)
But it can work the other way too. Like I was on a TV show, Burn Notice, ran for seven years.
And you can tell how long someone watched it.

**Adam Carolla** (2:41)
Right.

**Bruce Campbell** (2:41)
They go, Burn Notice, yeah man, wow, five years, that's a long time. Right. I'm like, you missed a couple, but sure.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because it's sort of like they're on a bus and when they get off on their stop, the bus no longer exists.

That's where they got off of season five.

They got off at season five. Yeah. So you, you grew up in Detroit area?

**Bruce Campbell** (3:05)
Yeah, suburban Detroit.

**Adam Carolla** (3:07)
Different place back then, I'm guessing.

**Bruce Campbell** (3:10)
We had, you know, Detroit has had issues from the day I was born.
You know, obviously with the auto industry, brought a lot of workers from a lot of places, particularly the South. And so started with white workers who, okay, they came in, Henry Ford, put them to work, followed by black workers. And the white workers from the South, A, didn't want any competition, but they certainly didn't want competition from a person of color. So horrible race riots, even before the riots we had in...

Oh, yeah, because you're the right age for all that, right? Because before that, I mean, Detroit was just a hub of manufacturing for a long time.

**Bruce Campbell** (3:55)
It was a powerhouse until it went South.

**Adam Carolla** (4:00)
Yeah, and now it seems to be having a renaissance.

**Bruce Campbell** (4:03)
It finally did the big bottom out.
They went bankrupt, and you got to have about two rounds of mayors who were not corrupt. You got to get a couple administrations through to shit out the previous stuff. If you have a mayor who's using a mayoral phone to sext his assistant, you got to know better. Where's the burner phone? Even as a spy, Burn Notice, you have a burner phone.
