Broncos Chiefs, Monday Night Football, Week 1, we are 48 hours away from kickoff. What we've been waiting for since January, when the Broncos season ended in a heartbreak, we are this close. And let me tell you everything you need to know. Leading up to the game, and before I do, hit us with a thumbs up, subscribe to this video, the final practice before the game is in the books. The Broncos had an interesting week this week. They got a couple of extra practices in. They got an extra practice on Monday, and then on Friday, they had an extra day which was used as a walkthrough and a regen day. So Broncos going to be extra healthy and fresh going into this game a little bit more on that health coming up later. And then tomorrow on Sunday, they travel to Kansas City before kicking off on Monday Night Football. And I mentioned that health. Let me tell you that the Broncos are as healthy as can be fantastic news for the Denver Broncos. They had every single player on the 53 man roster at practice during their final official practice of the regular season on Saturday. And all 53 of them were full participants in practice. It's as perfect of an injury report as you can have for a team. And this wasn't always going to be the case. The Broncos suffered a number of injuries in training camp, but remarkably had every player on the active roster ready to go for this game. Remember, Jalen Waddle, Nick Bonitto, Marvin Mims, Riley Moss, and Luke Wattenberg were just a number of the high-profile players that were hurt in training camp. They're all healthy now going in to week one. The Chiefs, on the other hand, are not as fortunate. With a couple of players dealing with injuries, including starting left tackle Josh Simmons, who is officially out against the Broncos, as well as defensive back Chamari Connor. And without their left tackle, first round pick Josh Simmons, the Chiefs will turn to an undrafted rookie tackle, Khalil Benson, to make his first NFL start against the best pass rush in the NFL. Not just last year, but the past two years. He's gonna have to face Nick Bonitto, Q Robinson, Jonah Ellis. This is a nightmare of a scenario for a player to be making his NFL debut in. And the Broncos are the beneficiaries of that. Also worth noting, Chris Jones did not play, or did not practice on Saturday, as he injured his calf on Friday. He is expected to play in this game, but it's not crazy to think that he might be limited in either how good he is, or how much he's able to play. That's something that we'll keep our eyes out for, and see if anything changes with his status over the next two days. But as of right now, he is supposed to play. But that's their best player on defense, might be a little limited, which is very significant for this Broncos team. Speaking of this Broncos team, feed JK. Dobbins, because JK. Dobbins wants a huge workload on Monday night, and his return from a Liz Frank injury that ended his season last year. Dobbins joked that he's ready for 100 carries against the Chiefs, and a reporter followed up and said, you want 100 carries or 100 yards in this game? He said, responded emphatically, carries, then added, quote, I'm ready for anything, whatever coach wants, whatever it takes to win the game. That's how many carries I want. And Dobbins might have a point because getting more carries is a great sign for the Broncos. Last year in the 10 games he played, the Broncos went 2-2 when he had 14 carries or fewer. However, in the six games he had 15 or more carries, the Broncos went a perfect 6-0.
So maybe J.K.'s on to something, and he should get 100 carries in this game, but it's gonna be great to see number 27 back there. I talked to him in the locker room today, and he's in fantastic spirits, and I think he looks as jacked as ever. He is ready to go for this game. Before I tell you about some crazy connections between this Broncos and Chiefs team, hit us with a thumbs up, subscribe to this video. We appreciate it a lot, because there's crazy Broncos-Chiefs connections in this game. The Broncos and Chiefs hate each other, right? On the field, certainly, but off the field, however, there's a lot of connections, respect, and even some love. Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph will go up directly against Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Biennemy. Those two, however, are brothers and great friends. They were teammates at CU, as well as fraternity brothers there. They have already talked multiple times this week, but have a rule where they won't talk two days before a game. So that communication has cut off between those two.
