Every time that song comes on, Paul Heath and I sit in the studio like two idiots bobbing our heads and carrying on. Like, it's okay for me to do, mate. I'm 62 years old. This was right in my wheelhouse. You're a bit younger than me. I don't know what you're doing getting into it.
Paul Heath (0:56)
Banger's a banger, Duff, and released in 1987, my birth year, so why not?
Mark Duffield (1:00)
Okay. So it's time for Electric Moment of the Week, thanks to Verizon Perth, which is a new era of commercial transport arriving in Western Australia.
Paul Heath (1:11)
I'll take the new ball.
Mark Duffield (1:11)
You take the new ball.
Paul Heath (1:12)
We'll go back to Friday night. The first two goals of Freeman will win over Geelong. Shy Bolton just absolutely starting things off hot.
SPEAKER_4 (1:20)
Now, Sirong on his left pokes it towards Bolton.
Bolton's marked at 40 meters out directly in front, and so many of the big stars get involved in the first minute. Bolton straight in front. Let's go. And let's go perfectly.
SPEAKER_5 (1:39)
On the ground was Smith, Bolton, Jackson, Switkowski, Kampar's back to Bolton, busy, straightens it up, sells a bit of candy, 55 out, let's fly.
SPEAKER_6 (1:49)
Don't tell me he's kicked another one. Yes, he has. That is brilliant.
Absolutely brilliant by Bolton.
Paul Heath (1:59)
Is he saying brilliant?
Mark Duffield (2:00)
He said brilliant.
Paul Heath (2:01)
Yeah, okay, and he ran with it.
Mark Duffield (2:03)
I like that. I like that. If you're going to go with it, go with conviction. Leaning hard. Goss went with conviction.
Paul Heath (2:08)
Definitely.
Mark Duffield (2:09)
And the Dockers did leaning hard, and the Stars got going early. Jackson got involved early. Sarrong got involved early, and Shea Bolton absolutely lit it up. It got them straight off the mark.
Paul Heath (2:21)
Definitely. What have you got for us?
Mark Duffield (2:24)
The 433 seconds at the start of the Brisbane-Adelaide game, I have to say, I think my thought was, be afraid, be very afraid. Let's have a listen.
SPEAKER_7 (2:38)
Little knock on, caps to Lowman. The man we talked about, can the Showman get a goal early? Lowman, the Showman delivers on cue.
SPEAKER_6 (2:47)
So Will Esprock drives along inside 50, Rainer. Drop the mark, he should have taken. Pouncing is Cameron. A little kick towards goal.
SPEAKER_7 (2:55)
Got it. And then Bailey knocks to do his advantage. Can he get a good bounce? He does. He takes off, he keeps it alive, and he might kick a contender for goal of the night. Long launch toward the spig sticks, and it is. It's another ripper. And this time it's McLuggage who drills it. Dunkley to half forward. Quick hands to Rainer, who takes on the tackler.
SPEAKER_6 (3:15)
He loads it from 45
This is unbelievable stuff. Another one alive. They've got five, and we've been going three minutes and ten seconds in this match.
Mark Duffield (3:28)
They probably should have just chaired Tex Walker off the field then and just be done with it.
Paul Heath (3:33)
Saved it.
Mark Duffield (3:34)
The rest of it was pretty academic. I know the Crows came at the Lions in the second quarter, but they were playing catch up, and all it did was wake Brisbane up again, and they put another four on their nose, and that was the end of that, and the rest of it was pretty academic. So they will arrive in Melbourne for Saturday's game against Hawthorne at the MCG, having convinced everyone that the season still has their full attention, and when it has their full attention, they are a frightening prospect for all others to deal with.
Paul Heath (4:07)
They're very good when they're hungry, and they want to have some of their food, but the other times when they drop off a little bit, it can be questionable, but at the moment, they seem to be locked on, and that comment of Chris Fagan afterwards, that he was talking to his man upstairs and didn't say anything for the first five minutes until he said, oh, this is going pretty well, isn't it?
