Coming to you from the Toyota Lounge here at DNVR HQ in beautiful downtown Denver. It is the DNVR Broncos Podcast. RK here with you, of course, joined by Zac Stevens and Henry Chisholm on the last Friday of the off season.
Zac Stevens (0:20)
We're here, baby. We are back. We've already got two football games under our belt, and on Monday night, we get the best football game.
Ryan Koenigsberg (0:29)
We do. And I want to talk about, we have so much to get to today, but I do. We have to pay off the conversation that we had at the very end of the show yesterday, which was who made the right choice, Kyle Shanahan or Sean McVay. And it turns out the one that made far and away the most logical sense, seemed to be the best decision.
It turns out that sending 15 staffers back and forth from Australia and all that was just a giant waste of time, because the Rams looked energyless.
Zac Stevens (1:03)
Yeah, which is not too shocking after that sort of flight and only one night of sleep there. Or, or guys, the Rams are just massively overrated.
Ryan Koenigsberg (1:12)
Well, and I sent you guys a text last night. Father time comes for everyone.
Zac Stevens (1:18)
That's not what the text said.
Brian Baldinger (1:19)
That's not what the text said.
Ryan Koenigsberg (1:21)
That's not what the text said, but it was what the text meant.
Father time comes for all at some point. I think he might have reached down and just placed a hand on Matt Stafford. He did not, you know, some of those no looks, sidearm, drop it down throws just didn't look the same.
Zac Stevens (1:38)
They didn't. Yeah. I mean, I'm taking last night with a grain of salt for the Rams, but you still are picking up a grain of salt and you're looking at it and you're like, is this what's happening to them right now?
Ryan Koenigsberg (1:48)
Is this from the sandy beaches of Sydney?
Zac Stevens (1:51)
Yeah. Are they massively overrated?
Because guys, week three for the Broncos could be a lot easier than we thought. Could be. I'm not saying it will, because again, it's a grain of salt. They'll be playing in Denver, not in Australia. But it is like a little eye opening. I'm curious to see how the Rams bounce back next week. If they don't look good next week again and I don't know who they're playing, then that game against the Broncos could be easy, but it could be a lot easier than we thought, because I think we all pegged that is like the hardest game on the Broncos schedule. There's a chance after last night that it's not anymore.
Henry Chisholm (2:28)
Yeah. Stafford's been due for this. Like this should have happened years ago.
Brian Baldinger (2:32)
I mean, like the elbow thing should have been it. Yeah. The elbow thing. Exactly.
Henry Chisholm (2:36)
Like it just over and over and over.
You never root for it to happen, but every year he goes out there and they won MVP last year. It's like, how does that happen? It doesn't make any sense. And so hopefully he's fine. Hopefully he's good and playing good football. But I just it's it's overdue.
Ryan Koenigsberg (2:52)
Yeah, that's really nice of you. I ruin on everyone's downfall. I know not everyone's just everyone that's not on the Broncos.
Henry Chisholm (2:58)
It's pretty close. Yeah.
Ryan Koenigsberg (3:01)
So, yeah, I'm absolutely hoping that Matt Stafford's downfall is right in front of our eyes.
Henry Chisholm (3:06)
And I mean, if Matt Stafford sucks, he's going to be just fine.
He's going to have a good rest of his life. It doesn't matter much.
Ryan Koenigsberg (3:11)
Exactly.
So, yeah, that and then the last thing I want to say is I think it was awesome that there's a game in Australia. I think that I don't know if it should have been a division game. That's my one take, but I think it's great. I hope the Broncos get a game in Australia.
Zac Stevens (3:29)
They will. I mean, we know where the NFL is going. And if I know some fans don't like it, the NFL doesn't care. The NFL is continuing to make so much money doing this by growing the sport outside of the United States. And it was so cool to see 100,000 Australians there at this game. I will say, I feel really bad for the people that bought seats close up. And they ended up being so far away. Like that stinks. But it was so cool to see a PAX Stadium.
