The Broncos were back on the practice field for the first time of training camp, holding their first acclimation practice today. But just because it was an acclimation practice doesn't mean there wasn't a lot to get to. We learned a ton, and let's dive in. And before we do, I wanna make sure to like and subscribe this video. Not only helps our channel, but it gives you this news every single day. We are here at training camp every single day. And let's dive in to everything we learned today.
And it starts with big news. Sean Payton didn't waste any time setting the expectations for the 2026 Broncos. He believes this team can win the Super Bowl this year. His optimism boils down to four pillar approach. First, you have to play good defense to be one of those teams. Second, you have to be able to get good quarterback play. Third, you have to have good offensive line and a good defensive line. And fourth, you have to be well coached. And Sean said, quote, I think we're all of the above. And I think it's hard to argue with him on any of those points. So if you think that's the formula for a Super Bowl, that pretty much covers the biggest parts of a team, then the Broncos are right in that mix, just like Sean Payton believes. And the Broncos, speaking of that last point, Bo Nix, Broncos got some really good news on Bo Nix. For the first time this year, Bo Nix participated in the team period of practice today, which was a great step forward, because of course he was a little delayed in OTAs getting on the field and mandatory mini camp. He did practice, but he was only doing seven on sevens. So this was a big step for Bo. He was a full participant in practice today. And Sean Payton had been saying, leading up to training camp, that this was when he was going to be full go and Sean nailed it. He was right. So no concerns over Bo Nix's health. And he looked great out there too. Not only was the ankle good, the arm was looking sharp. Bo Nix, well, we can't get into too many details of a practice like today because it's an acclamation practice. He hit Jaylen Waddle, Pat Bryant, Lil Jordan Humphrey for touchdowns during a red zone period. And Sean was asked about Bo Nix's next step in his career. And Sean said essentially he won 14 games last year. What's the next step that's needed? And it's pretty true from Sean. He said, do I think that Bo can get better? Yes. Are there other things that we can do to help him as a team and coaches? Yes. And he kind of pointed to that more than things that Bo needs to do. So Sean has all the confidence in Bo, in his ankle, in his ability to lead this team to a Super Bowl. So it was a near perfect start to training camp for Bo, and is encouraging of a day one, as this could have been for him. So great news. And speaking of great news, hit us with a thumbs up and subscribe to this channel. If you like this great news every single day, we are at every single Broncos practice, every single game home and away, any single Broncos event, we are there. Let's get into some other news regarding Jonathan Cooper. Today was also an encouraging day for Cooper, who practiced with the team as his legal issues linger. Sean said the Broncos are following the league's protocol for this type of situation, and that's why he practiced. So he's putting it, him and the Broncos are putting this in the league's hands as to why Jonathan Cooper did practice today after reporting for training camp yesterday. And he said, quote, we'll let the league decide this approach. And the Broncos also said they're fully supportive, and Sean said the Broncos are fully supportive of Cooper right now. And they're proud of the work he did over the past month or so. Of course, remember, Jonathan Cooper after he was first arrested, practiced with the team that next week during OTAs. But then after his second arrest, the Broncos did not have him back in the building, and now so this is a little bit of a different situation. They are allowing him back. And one of the big things is they are very confident and proud of the work he's done in this five, six week break leading up to training camp. Sean was asked about specifics of the case, and he said it would be, quote, unfair of him to comment on anything, and he said, when it's finally finished, we'll have a better feel. And then when he was talking about the eventual end to Jonathan Cooper's legal case, he said, quote, I think that will come sooner than later. And that's fascinating because his next appearance in court isn't until the end of August. And if Sean is saying that it will come sooner than later, maybe he knows something about the end of this, especially with Cooper practicing. So these past two days have been very encouraging for Jonathan Cooper and his status on the team moving forward. So unless anything changes, expect to see number zero out there on the field for all of training camp. One guy that you don't expect to see out there tomorrow in the days leading up to this or the days coming is Caleb Loner. He was the only player that was not a full participant for the Broncos today. In fact, he was not out there today. And this comes off a knee injury that he had. He had knee surgery about two months ago. And this is a guy that, man, he shined early this off season. Sean Payton even went out of his way to say that how much he's impressed him.
