DNVR Broncos Podcast on a lovely Monday here in the Mile High City.
RK here joined by Henry Chisholm and of course, Super Bowl 50 champion, Bennie Fowler. We're gonna have Zac Stevens with us from, not camp anymore, from Broncos HQ here in just a second. And today we are gonna talk about the most important things we learned about the Broncos during this training camp. But first, fellas, it's great to be with you. Happy Monday. I was at the gym today and our show was on the Samsung TV. Oh, and it was from our post game after the Broncos lost. And I was just thinking to myself, because I didn't hear the words. I was listening to music and I was thinking, man, if you just looked at our faces, you would never know that we were so tired and had just watched the most boring Broncos. But we were smiling the whole time. Good. And I think that's a real testament of the company that I have next year.
**Bennie Fowler** (0:57)
You love what you do. I mean, that's what that shows. And shout out to what gym was it?
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (1:03)
Denver Athletic Club.
**Bennie Fowler** (1:04)
Oh, DAC for having the boys on the tube.
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (1:08)
Yes.
**Bennie Fowler** (1:09)
That's fire.
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (1:09)
It is fire.
**Bennie Fowler** (1:10)
That is fire.
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (1:11)
And I was just laughing, smiling, right along with us. I don't know what we were smiling about.
**Bennie Fowler** (1:15)
But how many rebels had you had at that point?
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (1:17)
Just one.
**Bennie Fowler** (1:18)
I had like three.
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (1:20)
Yeah, I'm not on newborn duty in the middle of the night.
**Bennie Fowler** (1:23)
Exactly. Exactly.
**Henry Chisholm** (1:25)
That's crazy. We're smiling.
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (1:27)
I know.
**Bennie Fowler** (1:27)
You think the loss, how late it was.
**Henry Chisholm** (1:29)
Yeah, it's crazy.
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (1:30)
Down in the dumps.
**Bennie Fowler** (1:31)
I think it's because of the Waddle play.
Yeah. I mean, watching one catch for 35 yards in the explosion right there that you saw from him yards after the catch, you're like, maybe we just pivot the show and only talk Jaylen Waddle all day.
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (1:45)
It worked.
**Bennie Fowler** (1:46)
It was nice. Yeah. That might be the move.
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (1:48)
If we had just done the post game show right after the starters went off, it would have been an electric energy.
And speaking of electric energy, a guy who always brings it is joining us right now from Broncos HQ. It is our guy, Zac Stevens.
**Zac Stevens** (2:02)
Let's go fellas. I heard, I loved everything you guys were saying about just being, being so happy after that game. And even though, you know, they lost by 20, it did feel like a win and we get to do what we love. We get to talk Broncos. So let's go. And guys, I mean, I know Sean Payton was super pissed after the game, but I'm with you guys. I mean, what matters is the starters. What matters is Bo. What matters is seeing Jaylen Waddle for the first time. And both of those guys looked fantastic. So I'm coming away from that game, maybe just like not concerned about the defense, but just like, man, why did they have to give up that 12 play drive to start? But really what the, what just takes over is Bo looked great. And so did Jaylen.
**Ryan Koenigsberg** (2:44)
Absolutely. I mean, that's, that's carried me, that carried me through the whole rest of the weekend. Just thought about that play. I probably watched that play.
No exaggeration, 60 times. A couple of new angles dropped, got about 20 of those in, you know, like it was, it was great. Zac, out of practice today, obviously restrictions and everything has changed for the media now that we're out of training camp. But what can you tell us about the storylines and happenings out there today?
**Zac Stevens** (3:11)
Well, I'll tell you what else has changed, Ryan. The Broncos are just in regular season mode right now. Yes, there is one more week of preseason, but the practice looks like a regular season practice, which is very different than a training camp practice. So no big storylines gonna come out of here outside of injuries. And guys, we know that Riley Moss has that rib injury. He's not expected to practice this entire week from what I've been told, but it's not also expected to be a long-term injury. So there's no reason that Riley needs to play. In the two plays that he played, he looked great. He looked great in the first game, getting that interception. He's looked great all of training camp, so we do not need to see him again. And I would be shocked to see him this Friday night. The goal is to get him ready to be ready to play in three weeks from tonight. So we'll get an update from Sean Payton in just a second, right after practice wraps up what's going on with him. We also know Frank Crumb is not expected to practice this week as well, dealing with an injury that he suffered in that game as well. Outside of those two guys, Broncos relatively unscathed on the injury part, and maybe even some good news, Marvin Mim's coming back. We might be able to see him this Friday night as well. Guys, the brewing speculation here at Broncos is that Bo Nix will not play this Friday night. That's not official. It's just some speculation talking behind the scenes and stuff. We'll find out probably on Wednesday if he's not going to play. Now, Sean Payton did say when he made the announcement that Bo Nix was not going to play in the first preseason game, that he would play the second and third week. But after what we saw from him on Friday night, I think a lot of people, everyone may be outside of Bennie says, we've seen enough, don't need to see him again. So we'll see if that actually happens or not. But guys, if he does play, it'll be Bo Nix against JJ McCarthy and two guys that are going in very different directions.
