What if AI needs an open marketplace for intelligence, the same way that the internet needed an open marketplace for information?

That is the Tau bet. Not every chat bot suddenly buys Tau. Not that BlackRock is telling you to buy it. BlackRock is not. The bet is that software agents start finding, comparing, and buying compute inference, and a network that rewards useful machine intelligence can become very, very valuable. I'm gonna show you the bullish numbers early. In a multi-year adoption scenario, Tau at $1,500 turns a hypothetical $1,000 at our early snapshot into about $4,800. Stronger $3,000 scenario turns it into about $9,600, and those are ending balances, not-profit guarantees. Now, let's earn this thesis.

BlackRock's recently released paper says that AI is machine native intelligence, while digital assets can be machine native money.

It also says that agents could discover, provision, optimize, and pay for compute with very little human involvement. And here is the simplified version of this massive release. You own a small business. You tell your agent, find the best place to run this model tonight. I care about the quality, the speed, and the price. Keep me under $500.

And then the agent goes out and compares other offers, buys the service directly, and sends you the result by the morning. Now, that does not mean that it uses Betensor Tau. It could be using Amazon Web Services, a closed platform, or regular banking rails. But if an open network wins a real piece of that job, it needs a way for providers to complete on useful output. That is the Betensor Tau idea, subnet, that can produce digital commodities, inference, compute, storage, and prediction, where the miners provide the work and the validators evaluate it. Better output should, rightfully so, earn stronger incentives. Tau is the base asset around the entire economy. It's used for the network activity, the staking, the liquidity, and that subnet system. But here is the line that you cannot skip. A subnet has its own alpha token. A killer subnet for a great service company can capture value without every dollar flowing back to liquid Tau. That is why the bold case is very specific. Betensor needs to become a meaningful open market for intelligence, not just a rewards machine with a good narrative. The best subnets need customers who care about the output.

Tau needs to remain a scarce common asset people want exposure to as that entire economy grows.

Now, a price reveal number one, Tau has a 21 million maximum token supply, and I'm using that full 21 million for this math. That will be our conservative denominator. That's going to be our conservative baseline. At a $1,500 Tau token price, the entire supply value is at $31.5 billion. That is judgmental market cap re-rating, not a revenue valuation and not a claim that the holders can receive that income directly. BlackRock uses roughly $1.1 trillion in the 2030 combined cloud segment revenue as a broad-scale marker for cloud, not as Tau revenue or Tau addressable market share. So this $1,500 scenario says that open intelligence becomes important enough that Tau earns $31.5 billion fully diluted value. That is ambitious. This is also why people are watching it. Now price reveal number two is around $3,000 per Tau token. The same 21 million token supply, the same clean math and $63 billion fully diluted value. Hypothetical $1,000 bought at this $300 entry point buys about a hypothetical $1,000 bought at the current entry point, buys about 3.2 to 3 Tau tokens. At $1,500, that's about $4,800.

At $3,000, that's $9,600.

Now what scenario could break this thesis? Closed AI platforms might win. Buyers may prefer flat rails, and the useful value may sit in provider or subnet alpha tokens and not Tau. Competition, regulation, and security failures are also potentials, and a loss of real demand can destroy this model entirely. But if agents start shopping for intelligence, the same way that people shop online, an open market that measures rewards, useful output becomes a very big idea. Tau is one way to speculate on that idea. With all of the value capture risks we just covered, next, we're going to take the same AI agent thesis to Nier in the series coming. But the question is not, what intelligence do you buy? How does the agent get the outcome it wants without clicking through 10 chains? And give me your thoughts down below in the comments on where you think this AI economy is going. Are we very early to this token gated economy?

Or is this simply hopium from vaporware that will dissipate as time goes on? Interested in your thoughts down below, and I will see you on the next part of this series.
