Welcome back to the Daily Crypto Roundup. Your coins can hold their value and still become harder to access. Bitget is ending services for selected users, while Bitcoin's weekend recovery remains unconvincing. Europe has a digital euro deadline, Polygon has a profitability forecast, and Vitalik Buterin has shared a comparison that challenges the way investors think about Bitcoin miners moving into artificial intelligence. These are prices at the time of recording October 17th in US dollars. Bitcoin is around $81,476, down 0.98% over 24 hours. Ethereum's Ether is $2,424, down 1.94%.

XRP is $1.30, down 2.68%.

BNB is about $722, down 1.12%, and Solana is $104.11, down 2.04%.

Chainlink stands out among those we checked. $12, down almost 5%.

The larger losses outside Bitcoin matter if your portfolio looks much worse than the headline suggests. Bitget's announcement today deserves your attention because it concerns access to an account, not simply the price on its screen. The exchange says it will discontinue services for selected customers in what it calls a one-off exercise for certain users only.

It says affected people are being contacted through email, in-app messages and push notifications, with individual deadlines and withdrawal arrangements. Customers who have not received those notices can continue using the platform normally, according to Bitget. That is a narrower announcement than an exchange-wide shutdown. Bitget says customer funds remain safe and its wider services continue operating. Those are the company's assurances. They do not tell us how smoothly every affected account will be closed. The public statement also leaves important questions unanswered. It does not give a complete count of affected customers or a detailed explanation for selecting them. We should not turn that information gap into a claim that a particular regulator ordered today's action, or that it proves a fresh security problem.

For an affected holder, the practical issue is the timetable attached to their account. An open position, a pending order and a withdrawal request are different things. A notice allowing withdrawals does not necessarily mean every trading function remains available until the same moment. The relevant evidence is the actual account notice and the exchange's response to any unresolved position.

Check those details through the official app or website. An unsolicited message claiming to offer faster access deserves particular caution when customers are already expecting urgent notices. Would you still be comfortable keeping most of your holdings on one platform if access could change on an individual deadline? That question applies even when there is no evidence that the platform has lost your money. The strongest reassuring signal now would be affected customers completing withdrawals within the stated arrangements. Verified delays, inconsistent instructions or unresolved balances would change the assessment. Until then, the story is a selective service withdrawal with questions to answer, not a proven collapse. That distinction matters on a weekend when prices are already testing people's nerves. Bitcoin's fresh 24-hour decline is about 1%, but Ethereum, XRP and Solana are losing more and Chainlink's decline is almost 5%.

That is a real difference in performance. It does not by itself identify who is selling or why.

Today's Bitcoin chart analysis puts $80,000 back at the center of the discussion, with the week's low around $79,800.

Above the market, roughly $83,500 and then $84,000 remain levels to watch. Bitcoin is currently between those areas, leaving both a further recovery and another test of support possible. There is a temptation to find one dramatic headline and attach the entire move to it. We do not have evidence that Bitget's account restrictions caused this broader decline. Nor should a Saturday move be described as a new trading session for United States' spot Bitcoin Exchange traded funds. Their next regular session is Monday, October 19th. The useful test is what buyers can sustain. A move back through $84,000 that holds would weaken the argument that this recovery is running out of strength. A sustained move below $80,000 would challenge the idea that the recent lows are providing reliable support. Neither level is a guarantee, and a brief touch is different from holding above or below it. For altcoin holders, watch whether that recovery spreads. Bitcoin stabilizing while smaller coins keep losing ground would leave the broader market looking fragile. If the assets currently lagging begin recovering alongside it, that would be better evidence of improving demand than Bitcoin moving alone. Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, has set out the digital euro timetable in her statement to the International Monetary Fund's annual meetings. The plan includes a 12-month internal pilot starting in the second half of 2027 Adopting the digital euro regulation by the end of 2026 is a key condition for making that possible. This is a timetable with a legislative dependency, not a public digital euro launch today.
