Welcome back to the Daily Crypto Roundup. Bitcoin has broken below $83,000 as oil crosses $101.
Treasury yields surge, and more than $500 million of leveraged crypto positions disappear. This is not one isolated Bitcoin sell-off. The same inflation fear is hitting Ether, Solana and Cardano. We also have a hard limit on BitMine's Ether buying, Cardano tokens that can be seized, and a strange prediction market result where gold has already beaten Ether. At the time of recording, Bitcoin is around $82,930, down approximately 4.3% over 24 hours after touching $82,900.
Ethereum is near $2,562 and lower by roughly 5.8%.
XRP is close to $1.43, down about 5.9%.
While BNB is around $766 and lower by 2.6%.
Solana is near $115.80.
Hyperliquid is around $88.30 and Chainlink is close to $13.38.
Cardano is the weakest of these major assets, near 25 cents and down approximately 8.1%.
The lead story begins outside Crypto. Brent Crude moved above $101 a barrel as tanker attacks and risks around Middle Eastern shipping renewed concern about supply through the Strait of Hormuz. United States Crude approached $90.
The 10-year Treasury yield climbed above 5.3% and the dollar strengthened. That combination is difficult for Crypto. Higher oil can feed inflation. Persistent inflation makes rate cuts less likely and further tightening easier to justify. Higher government bond yields then offer investors a stronger return without taking crypto risk, while a firmer dollar raises another obstacle for assets priced against it.
The next Federal Reserve minutes are due later today. They predate this oil shock, but traders will look for how willing officials were to keep policy restrictive. The Federal Reserve has not changed its policy rate, and no Bitcoin network problem caused the fall. Leverage made the move faster. Approximately $555 million of crypto positions were liquidated over 24 hours, including about $487 million of longs.
During the sharpest hour, $403.6 million of long positions were forced out, accounting for 97% of liquidations in that window. Exchanges close a losing leveraged long by selling, so falling prices create the next wave of mechanical selling. The wipeout was still a small portion of total open interest, so another decline could force more closures. Long traders and rate-sensitive altcoins lose first. Unleveraged buyers gain lower entry prices, but only if they can tolerate the macro pressure. There is one counterweight. United States-spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds received approximately $118.8 million on Tuesday, and on-chain data showed more than 24,000 Bitcoin-leaving exchanges. Ether funds, however, lost roughly $201.9 million.
Fund demand has not vanished, but it is not strong enough to cancel every macro shock. The immediate test is narrow. A break below $82,900 opens the psychological $80,000 area. A recovery through approximately $86,500 to $87,000 would suggest buyers absorbed the forced selling.
Tesseract Group founder Oliver Carding identified that recovery zone as the level needed to improve the structure. Would you buy while oil and yields are still rising, or wait for Bitcoin to reclaim $86,500?
Ether has an additional issue. BitMine Immersion Technologies Chairman Tom Lee said today that the company will stop accumulating Ether once it owns 5% of the circulating supply. BitMine already holds 6,016,414 Ether, approximately 4.9% of supply, and needs around 100,000 more. Lee's hard stop wording was direct. Now we're going to stop. At last week's buying pace, the target could arrive in 6 or 7 weeks. This is a forecast based on a pace that can change, not a fixed completion date. BitMine has bought Ether every week since June 2025 So ending that flow removes a persistent buyer. BitMine shareholders now carry concentration risk of about $4.5 billion of estimated unrealized losses.
The negative interpretation fails if other institutions replace BitMine's demand or the company changes its ceiling. Watch weekly disclosures, the exact 5% calculation and whether Ether can recover $2,700.
Cardano supplied today's sharpest ownership question. The Cardano Foundation launched CIP-0113 on Mainnet after independent audits. It lets issuers of regulated stablecoins, funds and bonds restrict who can receive a token and, when their chosen rules allow it, freeze, seize or transfer holdings. The controls are checked every time a token moves. A fund can reject an unverified buyer, while a stablecoin issuer can block a sanctioned address. An authorized party may also move a compliant token without the holder's consent. Cardano did not add a universal power to seize ADA, and the launch required no hard fork. Cardano Foundation Chief Executive Frederick Gregerd said, The rules have to travel with the asset and be enforced every time it moves. Banks and regulated issuers gain infrastructure they can legally use. Holders lose some of the permissionless qualities they may expect from a blockchain token. Would you accept seizure powers if they brought regulated bonds and funds on chain? Or does that defeat the point of holding a token? The standard succeeds if credible issuers launch useful assets and clearly disclose every control.
