Milk Road Crypto

September 21, 2026

In this episode, LG Doucet and John Gillen break down why Bitcoin’s latest breakout could represent a major shift in market structure, why the failure of the CLARITY Act may have actually removed one of crypto’s biggest overhangs, and why sidelined capital could now start moving aggressively back...

Bitcoin is at $86,000, a sentence nobody has said since January 28th of this year. And when we said it then, it was out of sheer terror. This is a day we waited for a long time. So pour that coffee, get that Red Bull or Four Loko or whatever people drink these days and lean in. What's up everybody, it's LG Doucet here. Welcome to Milk Road Show, the daily crypto show that is so happy to be back. We did it. Today is September 21st, 2026, the first day of fall and the first day of the bull market. I've got John Gillen here. And honestly, I think we're just gonna get right into it because from what he told me before we started recording, this is full risk on time. We're gonna talk about how the market has changed, what this pump means to us, what alts he is positioned for in this upcoming, very exciting market. And honestly, just everything that has happened in the last little bit and what to look forward to. A reminder today that our podcast is free and that it wouldn't be possible without our partners at Nexo, the digital asset platform that lets you trade, earn and borrow all in one place. Keep an ear out for more information about them later in the show.

Hello, sir.

John Gillen (1:00)

Hello, LG. It's good to see you again.

LG Doucet (1:02)

Just remain calm. Just chill. Just, just, just remain calm, okay?

Just max out your credit cards.

John Gillen (1:11)

Yeah, I mean, that's I feel a little bit like that right now, but I feel pretty calm too, in the sense that like, I've been kind of saying this is going to happen for a long time and it finally has started to play out. And so I feel pretty good today. It's a nice morning. It's a good Monday.

Just to recap where we were at, we didn't do a show, you and I last week, we did do a PRO after hours where we chatted about your interview with Raoul Pal, which was incredibly well-timed to have a big name like him on the show literally right as things were about to take off.

John, just to recap where we were at last week, potential typically cataclysmic events for crypto, Clarity Act did not go through, the rates were hiked 25 basis points. Yet, to me, this felt like crypto didn't dump. In fact, it held steady and it was almost like an opposite sell the news, right? Typically, it's like, oh, when we have good news, that's when there's a huge sell-off right after. This was like, everyone was waiting for this bad news. You'd been saying this, Matt Hogan had been saying this, a lot of guests on our show had been saying this, that it's like, listen, Clarity Act, good or bad, once that's done, you remove the uncertainty from the market, and hence, we're up, I don't even know how much, like 15 percent on Bitcoin or something like that. Since that day, in just six days, man, is this, did you expect to pump this quick, this fast following something like that?

John Gillen (2:26)

I think because both of these things were relatively priced in, like there was a lot of uncertainty about the Fed's decision, but as we got closer and closer to it, it seemed like the market was, like I still don't think it totally makes sense, like that the Fed did hike rates, but the market was kind of demanding it based on like a lot of the things you're seeing in prediction markets and the pricing of the yield curve and the two year and so forth.

It seemed like the market was demanding a rate hike, so they got it and so the market reacted well to that. Then I think with the Clarity Act, it had already sort of been priced in. Then the thing I said this on the roll up when I was on there, I think what we might actually see here is like a max bullish outcome where the Clarity Act doesn't pass, but the Clarity Act was really more so to protect the banks. It had become something was more designed to protect banks than to help crypto. Now, you're going to have regulators coming out with frameworks for digital assets that actually give Clarity to the digital asset industry and allow them to operate in the US jurisdiction in much more nuanced specific and clear and helpful ways. It's I think actually going to be more constructive for the digital asset space. The time frames on these things are only a five-year grace period.
