Hey, everyone, Stephan Livera here. Welcome back to Stephan Livera Podcast. We are coming to you from Bitcoin Conference Asia, in Hong Kong. I'm joined by Adam Poulton from Get Paid in Bitcoin. Adam and I have known each other around Bitcoin for a while. So Get Paid in Bitcoin is a new one. But yeah, give us your thoughts.
How are you seeing the Bitcoin space nowadays?

**Adam Poulton** (0:21)
Bitcoin space has been weird with the bear market, but I'm looking forward to 2027 next year. Yeah, I think it's going to be a bumpy year for adoption. I think there's a lot of inflation pressures around the world. That's what we're focusing on at the moment is the pressures that everyday Australians, because we're based in Australia, feel in their everyday lives. But what's the next step? How do you solve that? How do you opt into something?
One simple change can change your financial future.

**Stephan Livera** (0:52)
Yeah. Now, it feels like you've been running Get Paid in Bitcoin forever.
What's the quick elevator pitch? What's the basic idea of how it works?

**Adam Poulton** (1:02)
Well, the basic idea is that we've got this new money now that is programmable, and we need to program it into every single space where we transfer value in real life.
I've chosen wages. I think it's a really, really good way for someone to opt into something, to receive a portion of their wages in something that's hard and they can save in, for long periods of time. And so we're building integrations. We've built an integration into Xero, the accounting platform, and so someone can register with us, opt in, get their details through to their payroll, and next payday, they get 100 bucks worth of Bitcoin.

**Stephan Livera** (1:40)
Yeah, gotcha. And so basically, the gist of it is people can tell their employer, hey, instead of paying me fiat to my bank account, or you're still paying fiat to the bank account, that's what it looks like to the employer, but actually, it's my bank account. But the customer is getting paid out in Bitcoin.
What way does he specify how to get paid? Like, is it just an address, or like you do the XPUB thing, or how do you do the sound payments, or what are you doing there?

**Adam Poulton** (2:04)
Well, we've got XPUB as well.
That's probably more for the technical users, but clients can sign up with us without a Bitcoin address, and we'll do a custodial for them for a short period of time. If they do have a Bitcoin address, they just put that in our portal, and we send every single pay directly through to that Bitcoin address. So that might be a multi-sig with our wife, it might be their kids' pocket money, it might be their self-managed superfund, wherever they want to hold that value, they can do that.

**Stephan Livera** (2:32)
And now, how are you finding new people? Do you find new people just kind of, is it like word of mouth, or is it like advertising, or is it just they hear about it online, they saw an article?

**Adam Poulton** (2:44)
Yeah, it's a little bit of everything. We've got a lot of educational stuff on the website, and people can actually, I'm curious about this, I wanna investigate a little bit more. We're talking to a lot of employers at the moment, talking to a big mine operator at the moment, he's got thousands of employees, he's orange-pilled, and he wants to actually give that opportunity to his staff. And we're starting to have more and more of those conversations with businesses, because they feel the inflation pressures when their staff ask for a five or 6% pay rise, and they're offering them two or 3%.
And there's a real disconnect there, and that builds over time. Over a decade of 3% or 4% below real inflation, you know you're in trouble.

**Stephan Livera** (3:26)
And it feels like we're seeing this divide between wage earners and capital and investment. If you hold assets that are going up, and the assets are going up faster than the wages are going up, now obviously this is why we're Bitcoin, but a lot of people don't understand that yet, right?

**Adam Poulton** (3:41)
No, no, and we've got a lot, like you said, we've been around forever.
We've got a lot of clients that started off with 20 bucks or 50 bucks of their wages. They've now got quite a good cushion, and so if the price drops a little bit, they don't care so much, and so they can actually portion hundreds or a thousand dollars of their wages into Bitcoin, because they don't really need the feed anymore. They want to save actually long term for the kids.
