Merlin Mann (0:08)
Okay, ready?
John Siracusa (0:11)
Oh, God.
Merlin Mann (0:12)
So that's, like, it's so much snot.
John Siracusa (0:14)
You got sniffles? You got a cold?
Merlin Mann (0:16)
I got snot. I got, like, when I wake up in the morning, I got a hock-a-loogie. And I hate that.
Is this the show? This isn't the show, right?
John Siracusa (0:24)
Yeah. Is it because you have to wake up in the morning, you have to hock-a-loogie because you're sick, or is this just a normal state of being?
Merlin Mann (0:29)
I feel like if I don't hock-a-loogie, I'll vomit.
John Siracusa (0:31)
Yeah, but is this all right? So how long has this been the case? Decades?
Merlin Mann (0:36)
Easy, easy, easy. You ever heard of HIPAA?
John Siracusa (0:39)
I'm just saying, it's not because you have a cold, is what you're saying. Yeah. The loogie hocking in the morning is not cold-related.
Merlin Mann (0:46)
I was going to make a really funny joke. I was going to say originally it was Tog who wrote that, the HIPAA HIG.
John Siracusa (0:54)
Were you going for Peppa Pig there or it was just accidental?
Merlin Mann (0:56)
Well, the HIG would be the Human Interface Guidelines.
John Siracusa (0:59)
No, I got the HIPAA and I got the HIG. I'm just wondering about the Peppa Pig angle.
Merlin Mann (1:01)
It is, but I changed the first letter on both, which made it funny.
John Siracusa (1:04)
Yeah. It used to say Public Library. I changed it.
Merlin Mann (1:07)
It used to say Public Library and then I changed it. Oh, wait, is that Simpsons?
John Siracusa (1:11)
No. Oh.
Merlin Mann (1:12)
Hey, everybody. I guess this is the show.
Hey, we're not going to go the route of John's co-host. We're going to remember to promote something.
John Siracusa (1:24)
We will.
Merlin Mann (1:25)
Hey, John, I heard we might have a new bonus, super bonus episode to share with our listeners. What's up with that?
John Siracusa (1:32)
Yeah, we didn't get our act together in time to do this during the time when we're supposed to do it, but we still did it. I think it's like they have the membership drive for Relay.
Merlin Mann (1:40)
I still don't really understand what we did wrong.
John Siracusa (1:42)
Encourage people. We did so much wrong. I can tell you after the show. Anyway, but it doesn't matter, because here's the thing.
Merlin Mann (1:51)
They got a schedule and a name for everything. They never just do stuff.
Everything is like a whole thing with them.
John Siracusa (1:57)
It's like pledge drives on NPR. They're trying to get people to become Relay members. We're always trying to get people to become Relay members so they can support our show. But they have a particular month during the year when they do it. And during that time, they say, hey, everybody who has a show, bring out your member specials.
Merlin Mann (2:10)
Childhood Siracusa Awareness Month.
John Siracusa (2:12)
Yeah.
So we did make a member special this year. We just did not get our acts together in time to have it when everyone else had their member specials, but the member special does exist. And before we tell you what the member special is, I'm going to tell you where to find it because it's tricky. So smart, John.
Merlin Mann (2:25)
Now listen, I want you all to pull over and listen very carefully because John's going to talk about something important.
John Siracusa (2:30)
So the member special is not going to be in the feed you're listening to now, because now you're listening to the Reconcilable Differences feed, whether it's the member or the public one or whatever. By the way, if you want to hear the member special, You gotta be a member.
That's right, the link is in every show. Anyway. To find the member special. You got to go to the Relay FM website.
Merlin Mann (2:51)
First, you must answer my questions.
John Siracusa (2:53)
I have a riddle for you. Yeah, relay.fm slash membership, or you just go to the Relay website and click on membership in the top navigation thing. Then after you do that.
You'll see a thing in the sidebar that says, access members only podcasts. That's what you want to do, because you're about to access a members only podcast.
and then after you click on that link, it'll make you sign in with your member, blah, blah, blah, blah. And after you sign in, you'll see a page where you will see the things that you can subscribe to, all the members-only podcasts. You're going to look for one called Crossover, all one word, crossover. That's where all the member specials for all the relay shows are. Ours are in there too. Yep. And then you're going to look for an episode title called Wartime Camerero. Did I pronounce that right?
