Western leading it 12 to 7 Michigan trying to avoid an absolute disaster here in the Oprah. Underwood in a shotgun, takes the snap. Western rushes three. He's gonna let it fly to the end zone, and this ball's gonna go out of the back of the end zone incomplete.
SPEAKER_2 (0:15)
Fine, Broncos, fine, fine with all your might. No, Western win the game.
Drew Lane (0:21)
After review, there's one second remaining in the game. Third down. Michigan needs a miracle. Underwood takes the snap. Back to pass, back at his own 40 He's gonna let it go.
This one's coming down in the end zone. It is caught!
Brandon McAfee (0:36)
Touchdown!
SPEAKER_4 (0:40)
Touchdown!
Brandon McAfee (0:48)
That's not fair.
SPEAKER_6 (0:50)
Not fair, not right.
Drew Lane (0:55)
All right, Michigan's 1 and Nothing to talk about.
SPEAKER_6 (0:58)
yeah.
Brandon McAfee (0:58)
Shit.
Drew Lane (0:59)
All right, we'll get on with a number of things today. We've been on for a while, so we got a lot of ground to cover here on Labor Day.

And business as usual for Michigan on Saturday. Yep. First game of the year. Yep. Non-conference game. Supposed to win, and they won. Yep.
Marc Fellhauer (1:59)
Next?
Drew Lane (1:59)
So what else should be said?
Marc Fellhauer (2:01)
Now we prepare for Saturday.
Eli Zaret (2:02)
Just a regular game, nothing unusual.
Drew Lane (2:05)
No.
Eli Zaret (2:06)
Win the opener, expect to roll over a back opponent, no chance of coming on over and win a game like that.
Crazy. Awesome.
Drew Lane (2:15)
Elias, brought to you by Dr. Yeldo. Is there anything else going on?
Eli Zaret (2:20)
I got a confession to make with this game. So I watched the first half in a restaurant, and then driving home, half an hour, I didn't listen to the radio because I wanted to see it all.
So I'm about 20 minutes behind the whole game long on DVR.
It must have been around the fourth quarter, I start getting a little text from Western people, Broncos are just so excited. This is the greatest thing. My Michigan buddies are saying, what the F, WTF?
Bring in Tommy Carr, as if. Amen.
So I'm watching and watching, and then I see, I catch up to the game, and it ends. It ends the play. So I assume that's the way it ends. I'll stick around and watch what happens with this one second, because I got all these texts from people earlier. And then, this is the first time in my life watching television where from, and I'll admit, I was a little buzzed at the time, I couldn't believe what I saw. It took a while to realize that this just happened, because I assumed the game was lost from all the texts I'd gotten and from what I'd seen. And so I'm thinking, wow. Well, you know, the answer now is, let's run Hail Marys on every play. We're 50% on Hail Marys. Nothing else works. This is the future of Michigan football. That's a great idea, yeah. Jeez. And then, I mean, just the whole clock thing. I mean, how can a game end in 99.9% of the people who are watching it had no inkling, no idea about the sinking of clocks, that the official clock or whatever it is has tenths of a second. The one in the stadium doesn't. And what really makes sense is the next day, Mike Pereira, the guy who's the official on all the NFL games, because the policy is in the NFL and in football too. If there's any discrepancy, you go with the clock on the field that people can see. That's done 100% of the time. And so now...
Drew Lane (4:13)
We know how a game ends.
SPEAKER_9 (4:14)
We've seen it many, many times.
Marc Fellhauer (4:16)
Two corrections here. The official clock is the scoreboard. That is the official clock. There's no tenths of a second.
