Big Mac Spotted on TV During Nervous Yankee Pacing
The Carton Show with Craig Carton & Chris McMonigle
September 30, 2026
Carton and Big Mac recount the excitement of a Yankees' playoff win and the viral moment of a host pacing nervously on the field-level broadcast. They contrast the New York crowd with disappointing attendance in Houston and Atlanta while analyzing the bullpen strategy used by Aaron Boone.

And of course, Chef Neku here at Yankee Stadium. They're excited to have had a nice lunch when we got here. Everybody feels pretty good about that. Even let Pete have some of the pastrami.
Chris McMonigle (0:09)
Even though what?
Craig Carton (0:10)
I let Pete have some of the pastrami.
Chris McMonigle (0:12)
Oh, I could have sworn you said you peed on some of the pastrami. No, no, no, relax. Why would you do that?
Craig Carton (0:15)
First off, you can't say that on the radio. You know that. Why not? Because it's a violation.
Chris McMonigle (0:20)
Oh, I'm sorry.
Craig Carton (0:20)
It's a violation. You violated all the rules of the radio.
Chris McMonigle (0:22)
You said it.
Craig Carton (0:23)
No, I didn't. I said I allowed Pete.
Chris McMonigle (0:24)
You said it first.
Craig Carton (0:25)
I allowed Pete to have pastrami. Pete got pastrami.
Chris McMonigle (0:30)
I thought you said something else.
Craig Carton (0:32)
Yeah, I didn't say that.
Chris McMonigle (0:33)
I think you can say it if you're talking about pastrami. You cannot.
You can't say that it's on. Like if I say I on the ground, I think you can as long as you're not saying it was on somebody or did it like.
Craig Carton (0:43)
No one's ever going to, you're not going to get fined for it, but it would be great if you did. But no, you just can't say what you said.
Chris McMonigle (0:49)
Okay.
Craig Carton (0:50)
I don't want to call any more attention to it.
Chris McMonigle (0:51)
Then don't.
Craig Carton (0:51)
Because you're excited. And by the way, one of the things that I was inundated with, going to bed last night, and when I woke up again this morning, is the big fella, again, using my relationships to get field level tickets.
Chris McMonigle (1:06)
Sort of accurate, not totally accurate.
Craig Carton (1:07)
And then standing behind, I think, the third base side in the 100th section.
Chris McMonigle (1:12)
Yes.
Craig Carton (1:12)
Standing with no friends around you, and the nervous energy. Yes. The kind of davening back and forth in a big spot.
Chris McMonigle (1:22)
Yes.
Craig Carton (1:23)
And on camera. Yes.
Chris McMonigle (1:25)
I was on TV last night.
Craig Carton (1:26)
My God, right there with his polo on.
Chris McMonigle (1:28)
No. I was very... I was interested in that. And that's the jump. And here's a couple of things on that. One.
Craig Carton (1:33)
Yeah, my friend offered us tickets.
Chris McMonigle (1:35)
Yes. And I ran into him.
Craig Carton (1:37)
You declined those tickets.
Chris McMonigle (1:38)
Earlier in the day, I declined. I didn't want to take his tickets. And I was going to sit up here in the press box anyway, and I was concerned about making sure I was here with my equipment to do the go get him as soon as the game was over, as opposed to possibly being stuck down there. You know me, I'm nuts.
I'm not leaving the position. If there's a close game in the 9th, I'm not running up here.
Craig Carton (1:58)
You have a 45 minute post game show.
Chris McMonigle (2:00)
No, I know, but I want to do it quick. You want to do what quick? The post game.
Craig Carton (2:04)
You don't do the post game.
Chris McMonigle (2:06)
No, I want to do the go get him quickly.
Craig Carton (2:09)
Oh, you want to start your very own show.
Chris McMonigle (2:10)
Anybody who wants to listen to the go get him, I don't want to give them a bunch of different options to go to the second there itch in to talk Yankees in the post game.
You look nervous. Of course, I'm nervous. But he was nice enough to give me two tickets. So I took Ryan, the producer of the go get him. So we were both there. So I did technically have a friend with me. It wasn't like I was friendless. I was standing there with the crowd. I had 48,000 of my best friends with me.
Craig Carton (2:35)
But you looked like you were a loner.
Chris McMonigle (2:36)
No.
Craig Carton (2:37)
And I'm like, wait a minute.
Chris McMonigle (2:38)
I'm standing there. Everyone else was standing. People were like, why are you standing? Everyone was standing.
Craig Carton (2:42)
I was interested that my guy offered you a ticket and you declined it.
Chris McMonigle (2:47)
I did.
Craig Carton (2:47)
And then I wake up and I'm like, he accepted the tickets behind my back.
